He sat on a wooden chair next to shinobu's bed, watching as her chest rose and fell silently. She looked peaceful while sleeping, she was cute.

He then realized the other Hashira would probably smell it on them the next morning. The thought annoyed him a little, he didn't need the others invading on his personal life. But at least other alphas would stay clear of Shinobu now. To be quite honest, he was surprised by how good it made him feel to think that Shinobu was now his. She was his omega. Giyuu shook his head, he was getting worked up, it wasn't the time to get possessive.

When the morning sun rose, Shinobu awoke from her slumber. She felt better after her overstimulated senses calmed down. Then, what happened the night before hit her, hard. She sprang out of bed and looked around. Giyuu was sleeping on the chair across from her. Shinobu quietly went over to him and nudged his shoulder. Giyuu groaned and cracked his eyes open. He seemed foggy at first, but then he cleared up.

-Oh, good morning." He said lightly. Shinobu smiled at him.

-Come on, we better get back to work, we've taken long enough." She said and walked away to a mirror to fix her hair and outfit. She had fallen asleep in her clothes.

After the two were done, they exited Shinobu's house, Shinobu holding on to giyuu's sleeve. He didn't mind.

When the two arrived at the main building of the corps, the others were already there. The other Hashira turned their heads to look at the two. In just a few seconds, Mitsuri squealed with delight. She had already noticed their scents mixing.

-It finally happened!" She yelled out. Sanemi sneered and turned back to his weapon, he seemed to be sharpening it. Rengoku let out a loud laugh and Gyomei smiled slyly.

-So, you finally marked each other? Took you long enough." Rengoku teased the two. The two stepped a few steps apart and looked away from each other. Mitsuri giggled.

-I agree, it's so wonderful when love blooms!" Obanai sighed beside his excited mate. He was a beta too, they were the perfect match and are the only mated pair in the Hashira. Well... WERE. Shinobu cleared her troath and spoke with an emberrassed edge in her voice.

-Yes, we found out the demon that attacked Giyuu had a blood demon art that seemed to heighten the senses of the once they attacked, and it rubbed off on me when I treated him." She explained. Giyuu never thought he'd see the day he was glad a demon attacked him.

-First name basis?" Sanemi asked, taking his eyes off his blade for a moment.

-Well, we are mates now." Giyuu reminded him.

-But I'm still an independent omega, I won't just drool or hide behind Giyuu just cause he's my alpha." Shinobu said proudly. Giyuu wouldn't have it any other way, he wanted his mate to be capable of handling themselves, not just rely on him to do all the heavy lifting.

-What about when heat season rolls around?" Obanai muttered. Shinobu blushed, you could mistake her for a cherry for a moment.

-We'll deal with it." Giyuu said simply. Shinobu jabbed him in the side with her elbow and gave him a glare, still red in the face. A few chuckles could be heard around the group. It seemed to be amusing to them when Shinobu and Giyuu were emberrassed.

A month passed, time was moving fast. The start of fall brought the yellow and orange leaves with it. Shinobu didn't mind the cold, it was comforting in a way. Shinobu and Giyuu were walking around town, a rare day off from the job. They had both decided that window shopping and dinner was a good way to spend their break.

The two passed by many shops holding hands. There was a shop selling different cloths and yarns, all colours from cold tones to warm. The autumn colours, red, yellow and orange, were presented at the front.

Then there was a Smith's shop, the man who pounded hot metal in the back and a booth with his apprentice at the front.

Eventually, they stopped by a restaurant. Giyuu looked over and nudged Shinobu.

-I'll order us something, what do you want?" He asked. Shinobu thought for a moment, a few people were eating outside the booth with warm cups of tea.

-I don't really know, just get me something warm." She decided. Giyuu noded and made his way to a short line.

Shinobu waited patiently, she looked around to the trees framing the village. A few starlings and sparrows flew over the sky and laded on trees, she thought she might have even seen a squirrel. Suddenly, a voice piped up beside her.

-Hey, what's your name?" Shinobu turned to look at a young man, he carried a scent of rowan wood and freshly baked pie. What could he want from her? He certantly wasn't trying to flirt with her, not with Giyuu's scent hanging off of her.

-Uhm... It's, Shinobu." she replied, wanting him to go away quickly, she just wanted to eat.

-Oh wow, a beautiful name for a beautiful woman!" The man exclaimed. Yeah, no, he was definetly flirting with her. Did his nose not work? It was a very strict social rule to not flirt with those who had already been bonded. But of course, there would always be idiots. Shinobu knew how persistent males could be, so she was already ready to fight or flight.

-I have a mate." Shinobu said, pretending to ignore the comment. The man curled his lip and frowned. He rolled his eyes.

-I know, I can smell him on you." He scrunched up his nose in disgust.

-Yes, so, I think it's best if you go now." Shinobu sugsested, motioning to the streets. The man laughed.

-I don't think so darling~" he smoothed his voice and took a step closer to Shinobu. She tensed up, ready to fight him if she had to. The man's slimey hands reached out to snatch her wrist.

But then, Giyuu appeared beside her, his scent got stronger, the fresh scent of rain and sea-salt that had become so familiar to Shinobu flooded her nose. Giyuu let out a low growl and moved behind Shinobu, wraping an arm around her waist protectively.

-This guy?" The stranger barked with laughter. "He looks like he just woke up from a coma!" He continued and wiped a fake tear from his eye.

-Get lost, Beta." Giyuu commanded, the man seemed to tense at his words. Had he really been so stupid as to not sense that Giyuu was an alpha?

-Territorial much?" The man mustered up a laugh.

-It you don't scram in the next 10 seconds, you'll see just how territorial I can be." Giyuu's grip started to get harder. "He's not going to fight here, is he?" Shinobu thought getting a little uncomfortable.

-Y-You don't s-scare me!!" The man stuttered, raising his first in the air. Giyuu stared down at him, his scent growing more and more agressive.

-I'll tear your eyes from your face." He said in a low, almost animalistic growl. The man seemed to finally get the hint and visibly shivered.

-Fine! I'll go!" He raged and stomped away. Shinobu turned to her mate, sighing when she saw two plates of some form of soup laying on the ground. He had probably dropped them.

-Oh... Right, sorry about the food." Giyuu muttered, letting shinobu go.
