Giuyy X Shinobu ~oneshots~ requests (OPEN)

Snowfall

This is just a short drapple that popped in my mind cause where I live we had the first snowfall of the year today.

All is well. The air is still, the only sound to be heard is that of footsteps hitting the earth softly as two people traveled together.

Giyuu and Shinobu are walking side by side. Their next mission was farther away than usual and both of their feet ached from a long day of walking. This mission was up north, where the air was chilly and the plants were no longer in bloom. Giyuu had always enjoyed the stillness and cool weather that winter offered, it was soothing.

-Nee, Tomioka-san, should we find a place to rest for the night in the town up ahead?" Shinobu asked. She sounded tired, her usually carefree tone gone. Giyuu yawned and nodded, it wouldn't do them any good to fight tonight.

So the two headed for the nearest town to find an inn for the night. The sun was nearly gone and the people in the city had lit candles on their windowsills. Shinobu hoped they would find a place to sleep for the night and get some food before setting out early in the morning to continue their mission.

-Two rooms, please." Shinobu said to the man at the inn, offering a polite smile.

-Sure thing, here are the keys." The old man handed the pair their keys and Giyuu turned to Shinobu.

-Good night, Kochou." He said politely. Shinobu waved her hand a chuckled.

-Good night."

Giyuu found himself unable to sleep, even after laying down. He couldn't understand why, as he was exhausted. He tried closing his eyes and dozing off, but he awoke only about ten minutes later.

He decided to get up and look around for a bit and then try again, he heard that helped when you couldn't sleep.

He walked around aimlessly. Somehow, he ended up outside. He saw Shinobu sitting on the steps to the inn, her eyes set on the sky, watching snowflakes fall down. It must be the first snowfall of the year.

Giyuu watched quietly as Shinobu smiled, swaying from side so side while humming a soft melody. She seemed content watching the white specks of snow dancing across the air, even if the snow wouldn't stick to the ground just yet.

-Kochou?" Giyuu called her name softly, snapping the woman out of her trance-like state. She turned her head to look at him over her shoulder and smiled sheepishly.

-Oh, I didn't notice you."

-It's fine. You can't sleep either?" He asked, moving to stand beside her and slowly sitting down next to her.

-Yeah.. It is rather odd, isn't it? I was exhausted when we came here, but now.." she trailed off and set her gaze on the sky yet again.

-Same here. Though I'm glad I didn't miss the first snowfall of the year."

The two hashira sat there together silently. They huddled closer than before, their hands brushing together ever so slightly. Shinobu set her hand on Giyuu's, and the man looked at her from the corner of his eye. Shinobu just smiled, her cheeks tinted pink from the cold (or was it a blush?) Giyuu decided to let her, just for tonight...
