ZOE'S POV
*Wear something nice, I'll be there in twenty minutes or so.* I receive a message from Mike commanding I should wear something nice. The message is enough to send me on edge. I release a snort before deciding to wear my jeans and black t-shirt with sandals, simplicity is my style. I can't take commands from Mike especially when we are not on speaking terms. I have tied my long hair into a bun and open two long strands of hair in the front, the Dua Lipa hairstyle. These days I've been following her recently, I think she's on my favourite list.
After I'm done with changing my shorts into jeans and fixing my hairstyle, another message pops up from Mike alerting me that he's outside. I head outside with only my iPhone in hand, immediately spotting his BMW car in front of the gate. I make my presence known inside the car as I step in the passenger's seat with pride. Seeing him after a month of lost communication brings an indifferent sensation within me. "Babes, it's good to see you." Mike whoops causing me to be mesmerized by his high pitched voice.
A blank expression contorts my facial features as I avert my gaze from my phone to his direction. "You're beautiful by the way." He compliments slowly, using his deep voice and my cheeks can't help but aflame instantly. I quickly erase the little excitement I suddenly feel within me due to his compliment. Why does this boy has so much effect on me!
"Thank you" I say, pretending not to feel anything. Wait! Do I feel a thing? I doubt so. No I don't. We then hit the road immediately "Where are we going?" I query. "You'll see" he simply replies. After a moment of silence he speaks again "Are you sure you are comfortable in those clothes?" He asks upon gazing his eyes on me with a mischievous grin plastered on his face "Totally comfortable. Why? Is there something wrong?" I check myself and drift my attention back to him. "Just asking." He says nonchalantly, releasing a light chuckle. One thing I'm familiar with by now is his arrogant attitude.
I'm not familiar with the road we are taking but I spot a... shopping centre. "Mike are we going to your house?" "Almost there. Where were you thinking we are heading to?" "Why would you take a different road?" Puzzlement is evident on my face as I ask. "For you to get familiar with all your hometown streets." He answers with a smirk on his face then focuses back on the road. We pull off by his home and we both step out of the car.
My eyes dart at his home, taking my memory back to the last time I was here. I begin feeling uncomfortable and I guess it is that obvious because Mike notices. "Are you okay?" He queries, his hand touching the back of my shoulder. "Yes... yes I am." I mumble and speak again "Mike why are we here?" "To talk, I need to talk to you Zoe." "But we could have been anywhere besides here." I protest and witness Mike feeling uneasy with my statement. He attempts to hold my hand but I jerk away.
"Look I know you might have many bad memories here but the aim of being here is to erase all of them and create new good ones." He says with such intensity, leaving me confused. "Now can we get inside." He says in a dismissive voice and I roll my eyes as I follow suit behind. I'm still mad at him. He makes his way through the sliding door and I instantly freeze in my tracks upon meeting with Mr and Mrs Brown's presence in the room. "Come on in." Mike grabs my hand, pulling me through the room and finally my legs decide to move.
Mr Brown is seated on the couch watching soccer while Mrs Brown is baking or should I say was baking in the kitchen as it seems like she's almost done. "Zoe, what a surprise" Mr Brown says more kind this time around and I'm astonished that he even remembers my name based on the last time I met him. I smile at him but still don't get it why Mike decided to bring me here without even alerting me that his parents are around.
