5 YEARS LATER

ZOE'S POV

I thought it was just a saying when they say you never predict how life will turn out but after my life experiences; I agree that this theory is true. I'm still in the journey of life and I never thought my life will be this perfect, especially after my high school life, after my first love which brought me too much pain. I have always known that Carl loves me but after Mike created a monster out of me, I found it difficult to love. I was too insecure to ever trust a man with my heart but as time went by Carl showed me the true meaning of love. As I speak today I am a happily engaged fiancée to a loving and caring business man. Yes my man is a graduate in B.A Fine Art from the university of Pretoria and today he is opening his own art gallery namely, Anderson's work and I am doing my last year in B.A Psychology from the university of Pretoria.

Carl's drawings are amazingly wonderful and people like them too. The art gallery is fully packed with business men and women who are dressed in their formal clothes too, I am dressed in a very elegant dress with high heels. Carl smirks at me from where he is standing in the front and I can't help but blush. "And ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to my beautiful fiancée Zoe Jackson." Carl says to the crowd, calling for my attention to come up the stage. The crowd claps their hands as I make my way to the stage and I keep smiling at them, feeling the excitement of being this man's fiancée and definitely happy that his dreams come true. Carl offers me a kiss on my cheek as I stand next to him, his muscled arm encircling my tiny waist and I look at him with too much affection then back at the crowd.

"This lady standing beside me has supported me in this journey and it is by her support that today I am officially a business owner of an art gallery." Carl pauses as the crowd cheer up. "Thank you, when I first saw her I knew she was the one and I wasn't going to rest until I have her." The crowd slightly laughs and we smile too. "Over there ladies and gentlemen is a drawing of my lovely partner which I made years ago." Carl points at the back and the people retreat their bodies to face the huge picture of me which is being revealed by two men, removing the cloth which was covering it. Tears of joy cascade from my face and Carl whispers in my ear "I love you." The crowd cheer up more in adoration as they face us again and I hug my spouse tightly and kiss him deeply.

Right now I don't care that we are among a majority of people, showing this man how much I appreciate him is the only most important thing right now. "Thank you ladies and gentlemen for joining us today in the offical opening of Anderson's work" I announce and they cheer up, some coming on stage to congratulate us. All along Carl's arm has been encircling my waist, this man is overprotective and jealous when it comes to me but that's the most thing I love about him.

My eyes land on my girls at the door after my announcement and we all run to hug each other halfway. "Guys I didn't think you'll make it." I say surprisingly. "We wouldn't miss it for the world, congratulations." Samantha and Linda congratulate me and point out to the huge picture of me on the wall. "Carl really loves you friend." Linda says happily. "Of course he does." I say, showing off my left hand and they scream like nobody's business, calling for the crowd's attention.

"Girl, why didn't you tell us? Congratulations." Samantha hugs me and Carl makes his way to us. "Ladies" he greets "Mr Anderson, congratulations." Linda tells Carl "Thank you for treating our friend well. So when's the wedding?" Samantha asks. "Next month, be there or be told" Carl jokes and we all laugh then he departs from us. We catch up on our staff, popping up champagne during the event. I'm happy to see my friends after so long but sad that Dave didn't make it because he studies far. Dave and his family relocated to his hometown in Cape Town and it has been difficult for Linda, which is why she asked not to talk about Dave tonight, but me.
