MIKE'S POV

I try to slowly open my eyes as the hangover is doing the most out of me. I glance over around the room sensing the presence of someone as my eyes instantly land on a half-naked Mbali. "Where's my phone?" "Good morning to you too, I made you breakfast." She squeals as she moves towards my direction with a tray full of food. "What happened last night and why did you sleep here?" I query in puzzlement, trying to remember last night's events.

"Last night you were overexcited to be asking me any of this. We had so much fun that you insisted I sleep over." She smirks, placing the tray on the bedside as she brushes my shoulder. "I insisted? Wait... we did..." I fidget using my hand to point between us. "Yes, how about we finish it off right now?" Mbali tries seducing me but my mind is all over the place. I jerk away from her, taking my pants from the floor as I'm still in my boxers.

How come I don't remember any events from last night? And my head hurts so much. Finally my hand meets with my phone from the pocket. A message from last night displays itself on the screen, from Zoe. I quickly fix my posture to read it. *I tried calling you, call me when you're free.* It reads. "Are you okay?" Mbali asks, scrutinizing my face. "I have to get somewhere." I say, wearing my pants in a hurry.

"At least eat your breakfast first." She's now blocking my way, insisting I should have breakfast. "Please move" I deadpan but she doesn't do so. "Why are you so moody all of a sudden?" She asks with her face settling for puzzlement but I ignore her and shift her to the side as I take retreating steps towards the door "But what about breakfast?" I hear her voice from afar but right now I have one thing in mind, finding Zoe.

When I get at the parking area, I quickly put the engine to life and shove my hand in my pocket to get access to my phone. I dial Zoe's number as I'm already on the road. I tap my fingers around the steering wheel as I wait for her to pick up the phone. I don't know what I'm going to say to her but I'm going to say whatever it takes to get back with her. "Mike" I hear her soft voice calls over the speaker. "Zoe hi, I saw your message and I'm on my way right now." The words escape my mouth in a quick motion.

"What! On your way to here?" She asks in a surprised tone." "Yes on my way to you. I'll be there in an hour or less than." I inform and nothing can be heard on the line, only her breaths. "Are you still there?" "Yes...I am" she stutters. "But you don't have to drive all the way to here." She says. "Be ready, I'll be there soon. Goodbye." I say in a dismissive tone and hang up.

I drive faster than normal, passing almost every red light whenever there are less cars on the road and lucky for me there seems to be no traffic officers. Dammit! Unfortunately I rejoiced early, I instantly get irritated upon seeing a traffic car chasing me which commands for me to stop by ringing its siren. I pull off by the side of the road and the officer parks behind me, getting out of the car and moving towards my direction as I'm impatiently staring at her on my side mirror.

"Sir please get out of the car." She commands. "Good day to you too" I sarcastically scoff and she pulls on a more serious face. Firstly she stops me while I'm in a hurry then she doesn't greet! Who the fuck does she think she is? "I don't have all day or you want me to use force on you?" She says, getting access to her handcuffs. "Okay, okay" I say raising my hands in surrender, steeping out of my car. "Open the boot please." "Is this some type of a joke?" I retaliate in sarcasm, rolling my eyes but she insists upon seeing the look she's throwing me. So I have no choice other than doing what she request.

After opening the boot I follow her behind. "Sir are you drinking and driving?" She questions, holding a bottle of booze from last night. A mischievous smirk contorts my face as I stare at her average ass; she quickly motions her body from the slightly bending position to a standing position of facing me. "Look here kid I'm probably ten years older than you, do you think I have time for your games?" She implies with anger evident in her voice. "You look my age to me." I challenge her. "Show me your license." Great! My license expired months ago and I still haven't got the time to go and renew it. I have no other choice than pulling my charm on this old lady.

"Do you have a man in your life? I'm sure if you did you wouldn't be this serious." I tease playfully and she finally gives in, laughing in defeat. "You're very persuasive hey. I underestimated you." She remarks, scrutinizing me from head to toes then back to my face. I close my boot and stand next to my driver's door as she's still in a happy mood. "Life's too short to be always mad, just find a reason to be happy. Can you imagine a gorgeous lady as you always frowning, it's just unhealthy." I say as I step inside my car, ready to pull off. "And life can be shorter too if you drink and drive. Speed kills." She challenges with a grin plastered on her face. "Noted" I wink at her with a side smile as I pull off in a hurry with high speed before she remembers.

"The license!" I hear her yell far from earshot, raising her hands in exasperation upon seeing her on my side mirror from a distance as a broad smile overshadows my face. I take my hand out the window and wave knowingly to her, driving faster as I disappear from her sight. She's dumb ha-ha; an evil chuckle escapes my mouth. As I drive I remember something which might work in my favour. I get access to my phone and send Zoe a text.

Author's notes: (I guess we can all agree that Mike is a smart guy and definitely full of himself. But how can he not remember any events from last night? 🤔)
