ZOE'S POV
FAST FORWARD
It's the end of the first term and we all just received our school reports. My friends and I are all excited about our results, we are hoping up and down celebrating our success. "No guys we seriously have to go out and celebrate, I mean this is the results of our hard work and we all excelled." Samantha suggests looking at her results in hand. "I totally agree with Sammy guys." Linda remarks. "Yes, let's do this. So what are the plans since we are deciding at the eleventh hour?" I ask, gazing at them all for any suggestions.
After a moment of silence Dave talks "I know. A movie date will do." "And who gets to choose the movie?" Thabang, who is Dave's soccer teammate questions staring at Dave. "The one who came with the idea" Dave rolls his eyes as he says. "This must be a joke, you Dave Varda choosing for us all a movie to watch." Linda voices out as if disagreeing with Dave.
"Yes Linda, or is there a problem?" Dave bores his eyes into Linda's eyes, moving closer to her as he asks. I notice Linda beginning to feel uncomfortable due to their proximity. "Okay guys fighting won't solve anything. Linda let him choose the movie since it was his idea." I come in between them and suggest. "Okay fine," she rolls her eyes and purse her lips to speak again "But we'll have to do something else like an ice cream date first before heading to the cinema." "That's not an issue, we should celebrate ourselves even if it means going to an after party then." Sammy says with a mischievous grin plastered on her face, causing all of us to protest against her. "NO" we all say in unison. "Relax I'm fooling around you all." She raises her hands up in defeat as she smiles.
"In that case, let us all head home since we have a long day ahead of us." Thabang says and we all nod to him. "Okay guys later then." I say. "Later for who? We all have two hours to prepare ourselves. I'll come and fetch you guys for an ice cream date." Dave declares. "I've got an idea, why don't you come to our hood and we all grab the ice cream there and then you'll be back to your suburb life for the movie date." Samantha tells Dave. "Great, sometimes you speak sense. We'll then have some bunny chow." "Bunny chow? It's Kota dude" Thabang says. "Same thing"
"Okay guys, later then. Don't forget to choose the movie." I remind Dave as we are now heading towards the gate. "I won't" we head to our school bus to Nelsville with my girls and Thabang takes a different bus since he stays from the other section of Nelsville while Dave takes his car to school at times, it's because he stays here in the city unlike us who stay at the town. Nelsville is a town next to Nelspruit City.
I get home, finding my mom not yet back from work. Today I knocked off early than her since it is our last day of the first term; luckily for me I have my own house keys. I freshen up and look through my wardrobe of what to wear with a combination of kasi vibe and coloured nation wear, but knowing myself I end up wearing a jean with a shirt which is covered in flowers and my snickers. I tuck in one side of my shirt and leave the other side; I just like wearing a shirt that way. I take my bag pack with me and grab an apple by the kitchen as I receive a text from Dave saying he's on his way with Thabang, I have sent him my location.
"Hey sunshine, I'm back." My mom alerts me with a beam as she enters the house. "Hey mom" I smile back at her. "Okay and where are you headed to young lady looking completely like the teenager that you are." My mom teases on my dress code. "I'm going out with my friends mom to celebrate our results and speaking of results let me fetch them for you." I holler at the last part of the statement with too much joy as I run to my room to fetch my results. "Whoa careful, don't fall." Mom warns in between her laughter. I make my way back to the living room with the results in hand. "Here" I hand them to her, trying to catch my breath. Mom takes a look at the results. "Well done baby, this are great marks." She wears her proud smile, engulfing me in her arms and placing a kiss on my forehead.
