SAMMY'S POV
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
"You know girl I don't get it. It's like Zoe has something which pulls Mike and Trigger to her." I say to Linda. "So now you choose to gossip about your own bestfriend." Linda sighs in confusion. I choose to ignore her statement and carry on. "Remember at McDonald's, you were there too. You saw of how jealous Trigger was of Zoe and Mike. Not to mention at the restaurant, it was worse." I say nonchalantly. "So you noticed after all. I thought you were too busy with your phone." She emphasises as she rolls her eyes. "Of course I did notice. I just didn't want to show any interest." I say and roll my eyes back at her.
"Why does it seems like you're jealous of Zoe?" Linda questions with her eyebrows rose at me. "Okay maybe a little. It's like she always gets all the credit." I admit to her.
"This is about you sleeping with Mike, isn't? Because if that's the case I did advice you to tell Zoe before it's too late."
"You can't bring that up now, you know it too. It was a once off thing and it happened before Zoe and Mike dated." I retort angrily.
"Still I say you should tell her because sooner or later she'll find out." Linda states.
"I can't take the risk that might jeopardize our friendship. She won't find out unless you tell her." I shoot Linda a glare.
"My lips are sealed." She shrugs her shoulders, leaving her with no option.
"Where is she by the way?" I ask. "Is PE day, maybe she decided to head home early and rest." She explains using her hands. "Then why does it feel like you're lying to me?" She's meeting with Trigger right?" I offer her a stare, she shrugs her shoulders. "Sammy don't do what I think you're about to do. Zoe's our friend you can't betray her like that." She says with her eyes wide open. "You are about to find out." I smirk at her. "If you hurt Zoe in any way I swear you might as well lose me as a friend because now I barely don't recognize the person you are becoming." Linda threatens and leaves.
Who cares? My subconscious says. I didn't know she was this selfish. I roll my eyes at her and she chuckles.
TRIGGER'S POV
I pull off at Zoe's crib, she quickly gets inside the car and we get on the road. "If you don't tell me where we are going I'll jump off of the car." She teases as she stares at me. "You'll see, be patient." I simply reply to her and chuckle. Zoe connects her phone on the auxiliary cable and plays her playlist while I drive. I enjoy the type of old school RnB music that she's playing, that's the kind of genre I vibe with too. "You keep on repeating this song and singing your lungs out, your lungs will burst." I joke and she gives me a priceless grin.
"It's Kenny Rogers - I SWEAR, one of my favorite." She informs me. "I can tell." "Play me this song on my wedding day." She requests. "I'll make sure of that. Look at me I'm already vibing with the song as you." I remark. "I'm glad you do." She shouts through the music as she continues singing happily.
Our destination is almost reached. I urge her to close her eyes, she does as requested. I pull off my car by an old park which has a lake next to it. Nobody comes to this park anymore, except Mike and I, we've loved it since childhood. It has an old swing and big rocks along with a thousand of trees. I jog by the passenger's seat to open the door for Zoe, still closing her eyes. I hold her hand and assist her to step out. "I hope you're not planning on killing me." She jokes. "Trust me" I say as I cover her eyes and we walk towards the lake. "I'll be removing my hands now. Are you ready?" I question her, her body is shaking. "Yes" she lets out a deep breath.
I remove my hands from her eyes. She gasps in surprise as she darts her eyes around. "This place is delightful. What is this place?" She asks, still looking around. "It's an old abandoned park. Nobody uses this park anymore." I inform her. "Nice option you've chosen. Even the water is moving slowly and calm. It's so relaxing here." She says with excitement as she jumps up and down like a kid. "Let's sit on the rocks." I offer, she follows and get seated on the massive rocks.
We close our eyes and listen to the sound of calm moving water. "I've been wanting to ask you something." Zoe says. "Yeah I'm all ears." I reply as I tilt my head to face her, she opens her eyes. "The other day where was your mom, I never heard any mention of her?" She queries. I look at her then answer. "She passed away two years back." I see her eyes change to empathy. "Oh I'm sorry. What happened?" She mutters. "The doctors failed her they..." I feel Zoe's tiny hand squeezing me tightly. "Is okay don't carry on." She offers a long warming hug, I embrace to it.
A car pulls off with a high engine behind us. Zoe and I break the hug and look behind our backs to see Mike getting out of his parent's car, rushing towards us. "This is what you do when you're not answering my calls huh?" Mike moves close to Zoe as he shouts. "It's not like t-t-that." Zoe stutters. "Then what, y'all fucking I see." Mike says in a cold tone and I see Zoe's eyes narrowing. "Hey watch your tone." I warn as I poke at him with my finger. "And who are you, Zoe's spokesman? Oh I forgot you've always been." He laughs; placing his hands on the lower waist dramatically then faces Zoe.
"You choose, Trigger or I?" He's voice more commanding. "Zoe you don't have to, he's insane." I say. Zoe gets up to stand between Mike and I. "I'm not going to choose Mike. Trigger's my friend." "If you know what's best for you, you'll follow me." Mike threatens. Zoe stands still as a statue, staring at me. Mike grips Zoe's hand and drags her. "I'm sorry Carl." She apologetically says with her eyes watery. They head to the car and pull off.
How could I let her leave with Mike when he's that angry! I move up and down trying to think as I hit my forehead using my hand. I decide to spy on them without being noticed.
