ZOE'S POV

I close my eyes and open them again, busy refreshing through Mike's page. I couldn't believe what I'm seeing. Are my eyes deceiving me or what? I head to the bathroom to pour water over my face thinking maybe I'm seeing things or maybe it's because I am exhausted but no my eyes are not deceiving me. Everything is still there, Mbali's posts which happens Mike is tagged in most of her posts. I hope I don't sound like a stalker girlfriend but whoever this Mbali girl is, she's surely doing her best into turning me into a psycho.

Who is she? Where does she come from? Why out of all relationships she chooses to ruin mine? I know I've had these conversations several times with Mike but he dismissed me, claiming that she is his first friend he met at college. Mike told me that he had no idea that she's a psycho and when he cuts her off, she acts psychotic. I guess this is one of those times they fight, because right now it's worse than normal. I have had my suspicions before but Mike reassured me that he only has eyes for one girl and that's me. Ever since this Mbali girl whoever she is came in the picture we havae had several fights with Mike which even resulted in my low marks for the second term. In my whole life I have never dropped that low, to the point where by my mom didn't even talk to me for weeks.

Now we are in the end of third term, the difficult term of them all where we were writing our preliminary exams. The year seems to be moving fast, I can't believe it's the beginning of October and soon I will be saying farewell to my senior year in high school. Yes I'll be a college student soon but I am not ready for separating with my friends. Dave, I have just met him this year, a sweet funny soul and now we have to say our goodbyes. A lot of bad tension has happened on my side with Mike but at least when all this was happening some good news occurred too between my friends. Dave, who was hiding his feelings for Linda, finally had the courage to confess it to her and as I speak they are an item. I couldn't be happier for them.

Today Mike has requested to meet with me after two full weeks of not speaking to each other due to our endless fights. I'm drained, I don't have the energy to be engaged with him in another one of our fights but he insisted I come through his place. He said he isn't calling me for fights but for something important which he cannot say over the phone. I wonder what it could be. I lazily go through my wardrobe and go for the first simple outfit I come across, my hair is just tied up into a bun. I apply eyeliner, a bit of makeup and a lip gloss. Yes, that's how lazy I am. I have also requested an uber to take me to his place, a ten to fifteen minutes' drive but thirty minutes when walking.

I arrive and make a knock on the door for a while. Finally he answers, he looks drained already so why would he call me over? I enter inside without greeting him and dart my eyes around. "Where are your parents?" I query. "In town as usual" he replies blankly and attempts to offer me a hug but I jerk away. "Have you been drinking?" I ask with a raised eyebrow at him and my eyes spot an empty bottle of vodka under his couch.

"Mike you have been drinking, what's stressing you?" I say, pointing to the bottle under his couch. "Nothing, I just missed us." He grips my waist in a quick motion and kisses me deeply, his tongue tasting of alcohol. I stop him by pushing him. "See what I mean? This is not you. Why are you behaving this way?" I ask with concern evident in my voice. "I love you. Can we just pack our bags and go live somewhere far, just you and me." He bags in a serious tone, cupping my cheeks. "That's the alcohol talking." I say slowly moving his cold hands from my cheeks.

"I didn't mean to," Mike begins talking in riddles as he moves around the room. "What do you mean you didn't mean to?" I query, clueless. "Whatever happens just know I love you." "Mike you are speaking in riddles. What's going on?" He's beginning to scare me; I follow his steps behind as I'm trying to get what he is talking about. He finally pauses in his tracks, trying to catch his breathe. "Zoe I have a child." He releases the words in a quick motion and I laugh at his ridiculous joke. After a few seconds, realization dawns on my face that he might be serious since he's not laughing. "Mike?" I call quietly. "What do you mean you have a child?" I stutter with my words. "Yes Zoe, I have a child." He repeats again, I am certain that I don't have a hearing problem after he has said it twice.
