ZOE'S POV
I am woken up by a loud knock on the door. "Are you planning on sleeping the whole day?" My mom is standing by my bed side now. "Mhh... what time is it?" I ask her as I try getting up. "It's almost 11am." She answers. "Oh no I overslept." "I thought you were tired since you are a hard worker-" she gives me her award-winning smile. "You didn't oversleep, it's a Saturday remember." She adds. "I know mom and I have chores to do." "Relax my baby I already cleaned the house." "But mom I-" she interrupts me "shh it's okay Zoe."
She walks out of my room clicking the door smoothly. I wake up and head to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. I decide to make up for lost time yesterday and study the whole day today. I'm punctual, I like being ahead with my school work. I'm a smart learner; I got the brains from both my parents but mostly from my dad. I catch up on my Life Sciences work.
I've been studying almost the whole day. Mike didn't bother to check on me or leave a message. So that's what he does? He pretends to be all romantic, sleep with you then disappears. "Zoe your friend is here to see you." Mom yells from the living room. "I'm coming just now." I yell back. I put all of my books in order and grab my phone before heading out to the living room.
"Thank God you are okay, I was worried about you." Sammy says as I step in the living room. I quickly give her a face expression to alert her not to continue saying much. She realizes and doesn't say much anymore. "Worried? Why should you be Sammy?" Mom queries suspiciously. "It's nothing serious Miss Ferris. I tried calling her and her phone went to voicemail that's the reason I came to check on my best friend." Sammy lies and I think mom believes her. "You didn't have to Sammy. I turned off my phone since I was studying." My phone wasn't off, we're just trying to make mom not to get suspicious.
"Let me give you girls' space then." Mom says as she walks away from the living room to her room. Sammy waits for her to disappear before she can interrogate me. "You know you have to explain what just happened right? Starting from the reason you were absent at school." She says with her eyebrows raised at me. "Friend I did something which is wrong and I think I'm starting to regret it." I say. "Go on." "Yesterday I didn't attend school because I wanted to spend time with Mike. Not really wanted, he convinced me to."
"Okay good girl gone bad now." She interrupts me. "It's not only that. He... took my virginity too." I mumble with the last words. "What? No ways. What happened to keeping your virginity till legal age?" She's surprised and confused at the same time. "I didn't plan for it to happen too but when he speaks I suddenly feel a soft spot for him no matter how stubborn I am. I do regret losing my virginity at age sixteen. I even cried." I confess to her. "You cried?-" she laughs hard. "I lost my virginity last year to Ryan. I told you remember. There's nothing to regret or be ashamed of, at the end you were going to lose your virginity." She says.
"I guess you're right." "So have y'all talked after yesterday?" "No he didn't call nor text me all day." I tell Sammy. "And you on the other hand you didn't bother to try and do something about that.?" "Yes, it's his responsibility to check on me." Sammy smiles. "No babes, haven't you heard of 50/50? Times have changed. If you don't play your part somebody else will." Her words sink. I take my phone to send Mike a message. Sammy snatches it away from my hand.
"Actually I got a better idea. Don't text him we'll show up at his place tonight, he's hosting a house party." "I don't think that's a good idea." "Remember some girls might grab that opportunity with both hands." She remarks. "Okay I'll attend with you." "Great I'll see you later then. Tell your mom you'll be sleeping over at my place meanwhile you prepare yourself for tonight." She's even excited more than I.
