ZOE'S POV
TWO WEEKS LATER
I made a decision to give Mike another chance after trying so hard to prove himself that he's changed. The past two weeks have been hell for the both of us. We were so distant yet missing each other. I tried by all means to permanently remove him from my life but I couldn't. He's like a drug I can't get enough of, everytime when he opens his mouth I feel butterflies erupting in my stomach. I hope I've taken the right decision I won't regret myself from.
"Mike and I are back together." I inform Carl, I don't know how he'll react but he deserves to know the truth than having his hopes up of us dating at the moment. "What!" He exclaims in disbelief, his eyes go widen. "Yes we have decided to fix things." I say. "Zoe, don't be manipulated by Mike. Take all your time to think things straight." He remarks with concern covering his face. "I think I've taken the right decision Carl. He deserves another chance." I say. "And what makes you so sure that he won't repeat what he did last time?" Carl questions.
"I trust him and believe he's changed." I state to him. "You're too naïve." He says blankly, rolling his eyes. "Trust me he has changed, he's sweet, caring, loving and nothing like the guy he was two weeks back." My cheeks heat up as butterflies erupt in my stomach. "You're attaching yourself to this guy so much that you see things in him that aren't even there." Carl says in a monotone. "No-" I have run out of words, not knowing what to say next. He interjects and talks again.
"Do you think a guy means it when he says that he loves you and then turns around and beats you to a pulp?" His voice is a little bit higher now as he questions with too much rage overtaking his voice.
Beats you to a pulp? Now he's exaggerating.
His words hit straight to the heart, I take some time to process them but they have done the damage already. I narrow my eyes as the words sinks. "I'm sorry that was insensitive of me." He humbly apologies; realizing my emotions. "Too late, your bitter words have cut through my heart. Please take me home what I wanted to inform you about is done." I say with a low voice. "Can I see you later?" He requests. "I can't, I'm meeting with Mike." I tell him with my arms crossed. "Be careful with Mike, to him all of this is just a game." He says and I slightly tilt my head to face him. "So I'm a game now, unbelievable." I say with incredulity then roll my eyes.
"Just be careful." He simply remarks. We pull off from the old park, taking me home. "Goodbye" is all I say as I step out of his car heading to the house. He nods briefly then departs. I enter inside the house, preparing myself before I meet with Mike.
"Where are you heading to?" Mom asks, her eyes scanning my body then shifts to my face. "You wear makeup now Zoe huh?" She questions with her eyebrows rose at me. "I'm meeting with Mike. It's not like it's my first time wearing makeup, you let me wore it last time at dinner with Sammy." I remind her. "Only because it was dinner, don't get used to it." She states casually. "I won't" I smile at her.
I have curled my hair and pinned it up into a bun, leaving a few loose hair on the sides. I'm wearing my red favorite dress with sandals. I'm in love with this dress; it shows my curves perfectly. A knock comes from the door. "Come in" I whoop loudly. Mike steps inside the house, wearing his casual clothes.
He is wearing a casual black outfit; a jean and t-shirt with a picture of Tupac Shakur. Well I'm not a hip hop fan but we all know this legend. I must admit I'm charmed by his hotness although his trouser is a bit below his butt, the swag suits him. I signal for him to fix his trouser, he quickly does so.
"Mike it's good to see you, it's been a while." Mom says happily. "It's good to see you too Elizabeth. Allow me to borrow your gorgeous daughter for a few hours." Mike requests with a grin on his face. "Bring her early though, you'll have to pay lobola for all of this." Mom says, with her voice laced with authority looking at Mike. "I definitely will." Mike responds. Butterflies erupt in my stomach;a smile overtakes my features as I gaze at him. "I'll be back soon mom." I declare and offer her a kiss on her cheek, something I frequently do. She smiles at me as we depart.
Mike doesn't speed up; we're going at a slow pace through the streets of Nelsville.
