I pushed through the seven people crowding around the front door, took out my keys and unlocked the door. Being the nice person I am, I held the door open, as they all walked in, some of them looking me up and down which I felt really uncomfortable about.
Alice was the last to walk in, and as she walked passed, I muttered, "You're going to pay me back for this." She gave me a slight nod and a stern look, hinting for me to not do all my raging right now in front of everyone.
We all piled into the lounge room, sitting down on the sofas in silence. The bodyguard murmured something to the boy with curly hair and then said to us, "Well, uh... I'll go now, and just call me when you want to be picked up. Nice meeting you ladies..." and with that, he left the house.
So there we were, sitting in silence. You could just feel the awkwardness.
"So... I'll just go, and err.. get you guys some drinks," my sister said, breaking the silence after a minute or two. She then headed to the kitchen and I was left alone with the five boys. It's funny, because I think that millions of girls would be dying to be where I am right now; screaming their heads off and crying. But nope, here I am, staring into space.
When Alice left, I thought this was my cue to go upstairs and get changed.
"I'm going to go get changed," I said, and they replied with some okay's and nods. I headed upstairs, into my room, pulled out a pair of jeans and a jumper and quickly put them on. I headed to the bathroom to redo makeup, seeing that it looked a bit over the top with what I was wearing. I wiped my makeup off with those makeup wipes and began to reapply my makeup. I applied a light layer of foundation, a few layers of mascara and light eyeliner.
I headed back into my room and collapsed onto my bed. What am I going to do when I go back down there? I honestly am not keen to spend my next hour with them. If you ask me, they're just a boyband that got lucky. I don't hate them, but I don't like them. Alice is crazy about them, and every time she talks about them, I just zone out. "Blah, blah, blah, carrots, blah, blah, blah, mirrors." That is literally what I hear. Though, I'm not going to judge them. I'll give them a chance, and maybe they're actually nice guys.
Realizing I had spent a long time collapsed on my bed, I decided that I should probably go back downstairs.
Halfway down the spiral staircase, I could already hear light chatter between the six of them. I continued walking and sat on the sofa opposite Alice. I looked to my left to see the five boys on the one sofa. I scanned my gaze across the five of them and concluded their names. Stripes, blondie, quiff guy, curls, and normal.
"Oh, I haven't properly introduced you guys to each other yet. Guys, this is my older sister, Maddy. Maddy, this is Louis, Niall, Zayn, Harry and Liam," my sister said, gesturing to each of the boys as she said their names.
"It's nice to meet you guys," I said, trying to not sound like I didn't really care.
"So, were you alright earlier? You seemed a bit... uneasy?" stripes said, which I concluded was Louis. So many names. This could take a while to learn.
It's not that they were the reason I had to leave my best friend's birthday dinner or anything, and it's not their fault that I'm stuck here for the next hour or so, trying to be polite and friendly when this is the most awkward and boring situation I've ever been in.
"Uh, yeah. Everything's fine," I lied through my teeth. I'm pretty sure that came out more angry than I intended to.
"Okay then," he replied.
I don't think I'm good at lying.
"So, how old are you, Maddy?" I think his name is Harry, who said that. I don't know why, but when he said that, smirks were rising on some of the boys' faces and he got a nudge in the rib or two.
"I'm eighteen," I replied, trying to sound interested in this conversation that was going nowhere.
"Hey, uh, where's the bathroom?" An Irish voice asked, breaking the silence. I don't know why, but his accent just sent goosebumps through my whole body. I looked up at him as he was standing up. My eyes were literally glued onto his, they were the perfect shade of blue and I felt my cheeks heat up a bit as I realised I was staring. I quickly shot my eyes away, and looked at the other boys who had smirks rising on their faces.
"Uhh, just on the left around the corner," I replied, trying not to look back into his eyes again.
"Thanks," he said, and again sending shivers through my body with just that one word. He then walked off to do whatever.
Okay, maybe they aren't so bad. I'm not saying I like them, but they're nice lads and yes, they are good looking, but I would never date them. They're just not my type from what I have seen, but I still have a lot to learn about them, so I guess I can't judge them yet. I've got to say, they're typical teenage boys really, with their brotherly banter.
After ten minutes of getting to know each other a bit, Louis concluded he was bored. Harry suggested we watch a film and he began scanning through our DVD's and settled with She's the Man. We turned off all the lights, grabbed some snacks and watched the movie. We were all laughing and enjoying ourselves and I've got to admit, I was having fun.
The movie finished and Liam stood up trying to find the light switch, moving his hands around the wall like an idiot.
"A little more to the left," Alice said, and he found the light switch. He turned it on and it basically blinded all of us. We picked up all the popcorn and rubbish we had dropped, or rather thrown at each other and sat back on the sofas.
I grabbed my phone out of my pocket to check the time. Surely, my parents should've been back by now. I found a missed call and text from my mum.
It read: "Maddy, we came back but we saw you guys were having a good time. We didn't want to ruin your night again, so dad and I decided to leave you guys alone ;) we'll be back tomorrow and tell the boys that they're welcome to stay over tonight if they want. Have fun xx."
I replied: "Typical mum. x"
"Shouldn't mum and dad be back by now?" Alice asked. I slid my phone back into my pocket and looked up at her.
"Um, they decided to leave us alone... and mum said you guys could stay the night if you wanted," I offered.
"Oh no. We wouldn't want to be a bother," Liam said.
"Nooo, it's fine, really," my sister said a bit too quickly. Eager one, she is.
"Why not? I'm keen for a girls night in!" Zayn said and I couldn't help but let out a little laugh.
"Are you sure it's alright?" Liam asked again.
"Yeah! Honestly, I think it sounds like a great idea!" my sister said in a rather over-excited tone. I swear she was about to start jumping up and down on the sofa. She was that happy.
Eventually, they all agreed to stay over and Liam gave Paul a call to let him know. So, maybe, tonight was actually going to turn out better than I expected. To be honest, I was enjoying myself and I was happy that they were staying over.
