Every day is more enjoyable and running a lot more smoother after things were sorted out with Brittany. Even the vibe around the place was a lot more positive. It was good to know that no one hates you. It's been a week now and I've got to admit it's the best week I've had at college so far. Brittany and I get along better than I thought we would. We have a lot more in than I thought.
We're both in our room, the both of us studying; at least I was trying to. I stared at the pieces of paper in front of me. I couldn't concentrate. It just seemed like a jumble of words in front of me. My mind kept on wondering off to nowhere.
"Let's watch a movie," Brittany suddenly chirped up, as if she was reading my mind.
"Ugh, yes," I sigh with relief. I'd been sitting at my desk for an hour doing nothing.
"What movie?" she asks as I stand up from my desk.
Our conversation is interrupted by her phone ringing. I watch he as she walks over to her bedside table. She unplugs her phone and reads the screen. Her face goes blank and she looks slightly nervous. The phone continues to ring in her hand but she doesn't answer it.
"A-Are you going to answer it?" I ask her.
She snaps out of her daydream and looks up at me and then back down to her phone then back up to me.
"Uh, yeah. I-I'll be one minute," she stutters nervously before she answers the phone and walks out of our dorm.
I feel a little worried. I hope everything's okay.

Brittany's POV
I answer the phone and even without a greeting she begins to ramble. I didn't want to answer her call, but I know that if I didn't, she'd never give up. I'm already scared for what I'm about to hear.
"Don't you think that I don't know what you're doing," she hisses through the phone. I walk further down the hallway so that Maddy can't hear.
"Have you gone insane? Did you not understand what I told you not to do?" she screeches into my phone. I'm too afraid to speak.
"Keep this up and I know you'll regret it. I see and hear everything," she warns. I can feel goosebumps forming onto my arms. I bite my bottom lip hard, not wanting to hear any more of what she has to say.
"Remember our deal. You can run, but you can't hide," she laughs before I hang up.
My eyes watered and my vision blurred. I blink and they roll down my cheek. I quickly try to wipe them away. I take a few deep breaths to calm myself down and to walk back into the room like nothing happened.
I knock on the door and Maddy opens up almost immediately and let's me back in. I know she can tell that something is wrong.
"Is everything okay? Who was on the phone?" she asks with pure sincerity.
"Yeah, everything's fine," I lie. I decide to avoid her second question.
"Do you still want to watch a movie?"
Not really.
"Sure. You pick one," I say to her, trying to convince her that nothing's wrong.
We watch The Hunger Games but I don't pay any attention at all. I sit through it with my head overloading with thoughts. I feel so sick and scared and I feel like I'm slowly developing a headache from overthinking.

Maddy's POV
Halfway through the movie she falls asleep. It's not that much fun watching it when you know something's on her mind. I wish she'd tell me what's wrong. I hope she knows that she can trust me. I've decided to not push my boundaries.
I turn off the TV, go outside to call Niall before returning to the room for an early night's sleep.

A quiet buzzing noise from my alarm wakes me up. Usually I'd sleep in for another ten minutes, but after sleeping earlier last night I surprisingly get out of bed straight away.
I look over to Brittany and she's deep into her sleep. I would usually wake her up but after what happened last night, I feel like I shouldn't. I creep around the room quietly, making sure not to wake her up. I go and have breakfast before heading off to my first lecture.
Rachel, Jenny, Hazel and I meet up for lunch. They ask where Brittany is and I just tell them that she's not feeling well. I hope she can forgive me for not waking her up this morning.
After 5 minutes of sitting down, Brittany comes and joins us. The expression on her face is completely opposite of last night, as if nothing had happened.
"Are you feeling better?" Jenny asks. Brittany shoots her gaze to me and gives me a questioning look. She turns back to Jenny.
"Yeah, I'm feeling great," she answers with a smile.
We carry on with our lunch as usual. I desperately want to talk to Brittany about last night, but I know better than to bring it up in front of everyone, even if they're best friends.
"Thanks for not waking me up this morning," she whispers to me in the middle of our lunch.
"It's okay."

The rest of the day runs smoothly. I spend the night with Brittany in our dorm. I debate in my head back and forth whether or not to bring up last night. I decide not to. She's convincingly acting like nothing happened, so I hope she's okay. I believe she is.
We go to sleep and I'm more relaxed knowing that she's back to her old self. I'm dying to know what happened still. It was like as if someone died and she was guilty or something. I don't know. But it seems like everything's fine now. I hope it is.
I fall into a deep slumber, letting the fatigue take over me.

My eyes burst open to a pitch black room and my heart races as a piercing scream scares the living hell out of me. My breathing is suddenly rushed and I have to make sure I'm not the one screaming.
Another scream pierces the silence and I quickly realise it's coming from next to me. I shudder at how loud the scream is as my hand wonders to find the light switch.
I quickly flick it on to find Brittany screeching at the top of her lungs, tears rolling down her face and furiously kicking her bed sheets around.
