Chapter 56 - Wounds

Bright sunshine was blending me as I woke up. I blinked my eyes open and it took awhile before I fully had my senses back and got aware of my surroundings.

„She is awake, Madam Pomfrey!" I heard a familiar female voice scream.

„Grace?" I asked turning towards her. She was sitting next to the bed, holding my hand. Looking around I noticed, that we were in the hospital wing.

„Oh dear..." Madam Pomfrey stated in a worried tone s she came towards us. „You were really lucky, that you got here in time. A few minutes later and the healing process would have taken over a month..."

I wanted to ask how I got here, but then my mind wandered to Remus and to ask about him would include talking about his lycanthrope. I needed to find a way to talk to Madam Pomfrey alone...

„What time is it?" I asked turning towards Grace again.

„It's seven a.m., most students will be still asleep..." she answered. „What happened to you?" She asked me worriedly. I hated to do this, but I needed to lie to her again.

„I couldn't sleep and decided to train my flying abilities more...but near the forbidden forest, I got attacked by an animal...I couldn't see what it was, it was to dark." I told her, trying to sound as honest as possible.

„Why are you up so early?" I asked her changing the topic.

„Let's just say you weren't the only one getting lucky last night..." she replied in a low voice, only for me to hear and a wide smirk.

„You didn't!" I said surprised by her answer, but also trying to hide my giggles.

„Well not fully...but a little bit" she replied with a smirk and we started laughing. „When I snug out of the Gryffindor tower and came back to our room, I wondered where you could be and since I didn't expect you to sleep in his quarters, I got worried. Then I stole the map out of your bag - sorry for that - and looked for you, leading me here..." she responded.

„Then you must be really tired..." I said to her.

„So do you" she said and yawned. She was right, but I needed to find Remus first and make sure he was safe and alright.

„Let's try to get some sleep, alright? We have still one O.W.L. week ahead of us and today is sunday, we could practically sleep the whole day" I stated and she nodded in agreement.

„Only if you promise me, you will never do something like this again...you scared me, Maeve" she said and I nodded. „Alright, see you later" Grace added with a smile, before she stood up. She waved at Madam Pomfrey before she left. I waited for her to leave the room and close the door behind her again, before I stood up. Madam Pomfrey ran towards me and tried to stop me.

„Dear, you need to stay-" she started, but I interrupted her.

„Where is he?"

Madam Pomfrey wanted to argue back, but sighed loudly. „I don't know..."

„Did he brought me here? I collapsed close to the forbidden forest, after that I can't remember anything..." I asked her and only got a worried nod as respond.

„Was he alright? Did you see him?" I asked her worriedly.

She nodded again and added „it was still dark outside, but yes, it was him"

„Wait, if I was still dark outside...he must have been still transformed" I spoke my thoughts out loudly, her expression in her face proved my theory right. „He got to the castle in his werewolf form?" I asked nervously.
