Chapter 67 - "don't let her "

„I wish I could have told you earlier...I never was able to find it out, until last night and...and I-I was scared about how you'd react..." I explained Remus in a low voice, leaning my head against his shoulder. I still was feeling guilty about not telling him, even though I never got the chance to tell him after Sirius had told me himself.

Remus took my hand in his free hand and planted a kiss onto my forehead. He wanted to say something, but in the corner of our eyes, we noticed Pettigrew watching us intensely. „Remus, you really got yourself a pretty girlfr-„

Suddenly Remus hit him across his face, I turned to him with a confused expression. Remus usually never would have hit anyone and even though I knew he hated this man more than anything, I wouldn't have expected this from him.

„That felt good" Remus breathed out and cracked the fingers of the hand, that had just meet Pettigrew's disgusting face. Before anyone even could have reacted to this, Hermione suddenly jumped up in shock.

„Harry!" She screamed, causing all of us to look at her. She turned around and pointed at the moon, that crept up behind the mountains. Already having a premonition, what to expect when I turned around to look at the moon. I froze in shock, when I saw the full moon coming out and it's light hitting us. I immediately stepped closer to Remus, who seemed like paralyzed. Sirius ran up next to me and grabbed the face of his friend and looked him deep into the eyes.

„Don't let her try to help me" was the last thing Remus was able to breath out, before it seemed like his soul left his body. „I promise" Sirius responded, unsure, if his words had reached his friend.

The full-moon's reflection glistened in his empty eyes and he wasn't able to move for a while, until he started to shake. I could see that he tried to fight it, but we all knew this was impossible and I hated to watch him like this... He had told me about the horror of transforming so many times and I had to witness it once and I realized by his reaction, that he didn't took his potion...

I wasn't able to help him, so I just stood in front of him. I felt the tears in my eyes as I watched him suffer, I felt helpless. Sirius continued talking to Remus, but it was pointless and even though the words might reached him somewhere, it would be pointless the second he fully transformed...

Sirius hold onto him and shock him by his shoulders, he pushed me away when then the transformation began. I didn't fought back and was only able to watch it with horror in my eyes. I wasn't scared of him, but I knew what he was going through and I knew what he was struggling with on the inside, without being able to do anything against it. The transformation was not only painful to watch, but also his screams of pain flew through the cold air, while everything else seemed to be quiet. Remus clung onto Sirius and I felt a tear running down my cheek. I knew that within the next couple of seconds, he wouldn't be himself anymore and could be a threat to anyone around me. Realizing, that I was the strongest and Sirius never would have a chance against him, not even in his dog form, I transformed. Deep down I knew, I could never really hurt him, not even if it would be...my last chance. I sucked in my breath, when I felt the weight of my large black wings on my back. I felt the heat and strength of anger rising in me and prepared myself for what was about to happen next.

Somewhere behind me I heard Harry yell „Expelliarmus", but barley took notice of it and only yelled at them to run away. Right before Remus fully had transformed, Sirius glanced over his shoulder at me and screamed „you're going to stay out of this!" And before I could even respond something, Remus threw Sirius a few meters away. He landed in some bushes and intentionally I wanted to help him, but when I heard the werewolf in front of me whining, I concentrated on him again.
