Chapter 55- Nightmares

„Maeve no!" was the last thing I heard Remus scream, before I woke up in fear of what I had just seen. I jumped up and slowly began to realize, that it had just been a bad dream. I looked around the dark room, the only light was coming from the full moon through the large windows. Sitting in the bed, still shaking in fear, I couldn't get my mind off the nightmare. Remus had been in his werewolf form getting attacked by other werewolf and because of Wolfsbane, he couldn't find the courage to properly defend himself.

The nightmare felt like it had been real and like memories of something, that had already happened. I realized I wouldn't find sleep anymore really quickly and decided to check on Remus. So I stood up quickly got dressed and let out a relieved breath when I saw that only the side of my thigh was a little exposed, thanks to the rip Remus had caused earlier. This could definitely be fixed quickly.

I wrapped myself up in my cardigan before I left the room, glancing at the clock before I snugged out. It was almost four in the morning, when I walked out onto the corridor. I quickly and unnoticed made my way out of the castle and transformed in my animagus and flew towards the woods, looking for Remus.

I flew over Hagrids hutt and around the shrieking shack, hoping that he was in there and in safety. When I didn't see anything inside, I continued flying towards the forbidden forest. I probably would have enjoyed flying through the cold air in the middle of the night, if I wouldn't be so worried. The forbidden forest was huge and seemed endless as I flew over the large trees, it was extremely difficult  to look through them. I lost track of time and my orientation , because every meter I played behind me without finding him was pure torture and I worried more and more, until I felt myself starting to panic.

Suddenly I heard a howl of pain flying through the air. I didn't knew if it was Remus or something else, but if it was him, he was in pain. I tried my best to track the sound I had heard and flew faster towards the direction I thought I had heard it. After flying into the direction, I heard the suffering sound again next to me, I definitely was close.

I tried my best to look down, through the thick forest, until I flew over a clearing and saw one werewolf trying his best to get away from two others. They were circling him, slowly and intimidating. Getting a better look I recognized Remus as the scared one in the middle of them.

I didn't think twice of what to do and intentionally flew down and landed next to Remus on the ground, as I did I transformed back into my human form. I protectively stood in front of him and looked over my shoulder, to check on him. They gladly didn't hurt him too bad yet, but I could see the fear and worry in his eyes. It was like my nightmare; keeping his human mind made him vulnerable, since he would never hurt anyone willingly.

The other two werewolves started snarling at us and turning to them again, I could see their hunger in their eyes. I felt bad for them, they were so controlled by their werewolf mind and probably just didn't have access to Wolfsbane, like Remus did. Aside the other, they slowly started walking towards us, walking further into the moonlight.

My pity for them turned into furious anger, as I recognized one of them. Fenrir Greyback. I had read a lot about him, he was probably the reason werwolves were so feared and disdained. For many years he tried to build an army of werewolves and wanted them to overcome normal wizards. He was pure evil and attacked wizards regardless of his form.

The anger filled my body and I felt the power growing in me. I felt the weight of my wings appearing on my back and flames coming out of the palm of my hands. With glowing eyes I looked directly at Greyback.

I threw a fire ball towards the other werewolf, scaring him enough with the fire, that he walked a few meters back. I motioned Remus to run away and positioned myself to fight Greyback. He was snarling at the other werewolf, wanting him to come back. I took out my wand and pointed it at the werewolf, while I formed a bigger flame in my other hand. I hoped that, this would intimidate them enough to leave us alone.

But as I already had feared, I could see only an amused grin appear on Greyback's features, so I prepared myself for an attack.

I qucikly turned to the other werewolf, that was now running towards me, attacking me from the side. With the force of my wings, I managed to dodge his attack and threw a paralyzing spell at him. I hit him and he froze in his jump at me, this would hold for a couple of minutes. But before I even could turn to Greyback again, he threw me to the ground, causing my wand to fall to the ground. I slowly lifted myself up to get a look on my attacker, he was slowly walking towards me and as he stepped onto my wand, I heard it breaking.

I slowly managed to get onto my feet again and every muscle in my body hurt with every of my motions. As soon as I was on my feet I felt my body being violently pushed again, causing me to fly back a couple more meters before I landed on the ground again.

I had landed on my stomach and as I lifted my head I saw Greyback provocatingly looking at Remus, who was watching the whole horror from the side. Greyback focused on me again and I saw Remus wanting to attack Greyback. My fear of what could happen to him by doing this turned into anger and gave me new strength. I quickly pushed myself up from the ground and hovered over ground. Before Remus could reach him I quickly flew between them, stopping Remus' attack.

This time my anger took over me and I wasn't just defensive. I flew with a quick pace directly at Greyback and as I reached him I grabbed the hair on his neck, lifting him up. He didn't saw this attack coming and I flew up a little more, until couldn't carry his weight anymore, letting him fall down to the ground.

He crushed into the dirt and as he slowly stood up again, I saw even more anger in his eyes. Greyback ran towards me for another attack, which I managed to dodge, by flying aside, making him furious.

A plan popped up in my head, by just dodging his attacks I could buy Remus enough time to get to a safe space, w her Greyback wouldn't attack him and I could just fly away then.

„Remus! Run back to the castle, he won't follow you there!" I screamed towards Remus, as I prepared myself to dodge another attack. When he didn't move I screamed at him again. „Don't worry, I am right behind you, baby" I assured him and he finally turned around to run away.

Greyback must have realized what was going on, so he turned to Remus and started running towards him to attack him. As he jumped at him when he was close enough, I flew at him from his side and tackled him to the ground.

When we landed on the ground, he rolled himself on top of me as I was laying on my stomach under him. I quickly tried to get up and got on my knees to get away as quickly as possible.

Suddenly I felt his claws being pushed into my lower back, dragging them along. I let out a painful scream and whinced at the horrible and extremely painful feeling, that got send through my whole body. I still managed to stand up and slowly turned around. I felt the cold air on my now bleeding back, that got through the big rips his claws had caused. Looking at Greyback I felt anger rising in me again and I flew up again, hovering a meter over the ground.

I flew quick to attacked him, I was father than wind as I threw him to the ground again. With my whole strength pushed him towards the ground, causing a whine escaping him. He was laying on his back, almost looking helpless, still confused about my sudden attack on him.

„That was my favorite dress, you fuck!" I said as I kicked him as had as in could   in his face. He let out another whine of pain and robbed away from me.

Before Greyback could gain any strength back or try to attack us, I quickly got to Remus, motioning for him to follow me.

I flew above of him as we got out of the forbidden forest. When we finally reached the last trees, that formed the entrance to the forest I landed next to Remus. The full moon was almost gone and it was already getting a little bit brighter.

Remus tried to push me towards the castle and I saw worry in his eyes. I transformed back into my human form and felt the strength leaving my body, before I collapsed...
