Chapter 11 | „I don't bite"

I stopped in the doorway, the twins didn't noticed it, since they were walking in front of me. I nervously looked into the classroom, he wasn't there yet. I was just staring inside, I wasn't really sure what to think. The feelings I had when he was near me wasn't normal for a student to have for their teacher. I couldn't deny that i felt butterflies in my stomach when I heard his voice, felt his touch or saw his smile. Even thinking of him made my face heat up and i felt really nervous. I was worried about my feelings and if I could hide them in class, would i be able to keep up with the lessons and would i still be able to work and stay a good student...

"Don't be nervous, just walk in." I heard a familiar voice behind me. He had catched me off guard and I jumped, I heard him giggle. "I don't bite..." he added as i turned around to face him. As soon as i glanced at him i felt my stomach turn and my face heated up in a mixture of happiness to see him again, excitement and a hint of embarrassment. He gently pushed me into the room and when he closed the door with his wand, I felt him getting closer and he whispered to me so that only i could here it "...at least not in class".

I sat down next to Fred, no one in the class seemed to notice what had happened, gladly. My thoughts were still tumbling around his last words...what did he meant by telling me that he wouldn't bite in class...did he just flirt with me? Or did he meant something else?

"I will be your professor in Defense Against Dark Arts, my name is Professor Remus Lupin you might remember me from the ceremony yesterday." He said towards the class with a smile.
"As Dumbledore told you yesterday, this year the school will be surrounded by Dementors, the guards of Azkaban, because they are looking for Sirius Black." When he said Black's name he suddenly seemed really sad. "That's why I decided to teach you the Patronus charm, what do you know about this? And don't be scared, it's okay if you say something wrong" he added to encourage us.

I quickly lifted my hand since I knew the answer, gladly this was included in my little extra studying I had done last night. I looked around no one else had put their hands up as I turned around to Fred and George I noticed that they were trying really hard not to laugh. And i realized how stupid I looked and wanted to put my hand down again, but Remus... i mean Professor Lupin had already seen it.

"Maeve, what do you know about the Patronus charm..." he asked and i slowly turned around to face him and breathed deeply before I answered.

"This really difficult charm is mainly used against Dementors and Lethifolds and conjures a magical guardian, which is formed out of all your most happy or positives feeling and emotions. The Patronus is only used for defense and there are two types of Patronuses..." I stopped and looked at him.

"Awesome!" He said surprised and leaned back, so that he propped himself up with his arms on the table. The look of him made my heart jump and I tried to focus on class again.
"Do you know the two different types?" He asked me with as huge smile.

Focusing on class was harder than I thought and it was even harder to take my eyes off of him, especially his arms. What were I talking about again? Dementors? No Patronus!

"Oh yes! The corporeal Patronus has a particular shape or form, mainly of animals, which depends on the person. While the incorporeal Patronus doesn't has a special form. This makes the incorporeal charm not as strong as the corporeal one."

I dared myself to look at him again and he was smiling at me. It took him a second to take his eyes off of me and he looked towards the whole class again. I smiled to myself, I had felt that he had just drowned in my eyes.

He continued to tell the class more about the spell and about dementors. I listened to him and I felt that I was really warm, so I decided to take my sweater of.
