My name is Maeve Lovegood and I am going to attend my fifth year in Hogwarts. It's beginning in one week and I'm afraid that things had changed, because I had left Hogwarts for one year and visited an American witchcraft school as an exchange student.

What if my friends found someone better than me? What if I missed out on too much? What if I wasn't able to keep up with studying?

I had stayed in touch with my closest friends which were Fred and George Weasley. They were more than friends for me, they were my family and besides my step parents and their daughter Luna all I had. But I was more than happy with that. In our small friend group I was basically the mom and tried to keep us out of trouble, but I still adored doing all the silly things with the twins.

I was counting down the days til my returning to Hogwarts. My true home. At this very morning I made myself a cup of coffee and picked up the mail from our mailbox with the "family Lovegood" signing on it, I hoped for a letter from the twins. I had sent them a drawing I made during my exchange time and they had indeed sent me something. I made my way back inside the house and quickly took a brief view on the other letters.
Another one was addressed to my stepdad as I turned it around and saw the raven, the symbol of my house, I knew it was either about me or Luna. The letter began to fly and formed itself to a face.

"Mr Lovegood, we have reason to believe that we found the real parents of Maeve. Well, her mother at least. We got informed that-"

The letter crushed itself into all ball and flew to the kitchen. I immediately went after it. I was still in shock about those brief information, I have never heard anything about my parents. Who they were or where... I never thought about finding them, because this life was the only thing I knew. Of course I had sometimes asked myself who they were or if they were still alive. I had always told myself that they probably just didn't want me.

In the kitchen Xeno, my stepdad was holding the letter in his hand. He looked at me with a seriousness I had never seen at him before.

"This letter was addressed towards me, wasn't it?" He slowly asked this rhetorical question.

"Yes, but it is about me, isn't it?" I asked in a mocking tone. Anger had come up in me and mixed with the confusion.

He sighted and walked towards me. He motioned towards a chair he was now sitting towards to.
I sat down and crossed my arms in front of my chest. I looked at him with a questioning expression.

"Listen pumpkin" he had chosen this nickname because of my red hair when I was little. "First of all I am sorry I kept it a secret. I know who your mother was..."

"Was..?" I said with a sad shaking voice, which caused him to look at me again. "She is dead" I said more to myself this time. He didn't need to look at him for an answer, it was obvious.

"I am sorry. If we ever had the chance on finding her before... I would have told you. I always hoped she would show up to be honest..."

I was zoned out and didn't really hear what he was saying. I felt the tears coming, but even tough she was my mother after all I wasn't as sad as I maybe should be. I never knew her, met her, heard anything from her. After staring into nothing for a while I felt him grabbing my hands and leaning forwards to me, this brought me back and he repeated himself.

"If she had ever reached out to you she could have helped you. One year ago I heard about her death and sadly with that I only found out who she was. "
"With what?"

"What?"

"With what do I need her help?" I said in a bitter tone. Why did she left me, she could have been there for the entire time. Maybe she would still be alive. I learned to love my live with my step family and friends, i never needed her, so with what do I need her help then?
