12. Lies or Trust

Jin's POV

Mike wanted me to come with him to pick out a gift for Becca. Mike decided to upgrade her wedding ring but I didn't understand why he begged me to help him. Lee was on his date with Serene and I guess I was the only option. Since I was on my break from work, I decided to go to the jewelers with him. While Mike was looking at some of the rings, I decided to look at some of the watches that were new in stock. I had my tux picked out and I figured why not buy a new watch? Before making a decision, I felt butterflies in my stomach. This feeling came out of nowhere. I had a feeling and I didn't know why it came so suddenly. My heart started beating faster when I looked up and saw Dae coming out of the boutique across from the jewelry store. She went to the cleaners that was located near the elevator. Watching her from afar, she picks up lab coats and heads to the parking garage. Mike comes out of the store with his gift for Becca. "Let's go before I starve to death." Mike exaggerated.

"Remember that you're paying right?" I reminded Mike as we started to walk to the parking garage. "Dae! Wait up!" Mike calls Dae's attention from across the garage. She had the trunk opened and smiled at him when he called her name. Giving her a hug, Mike asked her about the Gala. I wanted her attention but I was more curious about her spending time with Jong.

"Hello Jin. It's nice to see you again." Turning a deep red when she said my name, I became extremely nervous. "I'm good. How are you?" I asked, waiting for her to respond.

"I'm excited about the Gala but I still need to find a dress." Looking at her, I started to think about what she was going to wear under her dress. Trying to control my excitement, Mike asked for Dae's opinion about the ring he just brought for Becca. Once my thoughts were under control, Dae looks at me. Her beautiful brown eyes captured my soul and pulled me in. "Have a nice lunch and make sure Mike behaves himself."

After closing the trunk, she starts to walk towards the driver's side of the car. Mike nudged me and I knew he wanted me to ask Dae for her number. Before I could open my mouth and speak, her car door closed shut. I panicked. Without thinking, I tried to stop her before she drove off. As if God knew I wanted her to stay, Mike rushed over to her. I looked at her and it seems like she was having car trouble. I walked up to Dae and opened her door so that she could let Mike try to start the car.

"Are you alright?" Looking up at me with a worried expression "Yeah, I don't know what happened. The car won't start now." Without realizing that I was still holding her hand when I helped her out of the car. "Looks like you need a new battery." Mike told Dae that we can drive her home but she had to go to work to pick up some paperwork. This means that we will ride together to her job. This was a perfect opportunity to see Jong up close, man to man. Dae wanted to sit in the back of the car but Mike insisted that she sat in the front with me. I was nervous that she was riding with me. "I'm sorry. I don't want to bother you-

I interrupted her "You don't have to apologize. You can never bother me. I will always help you when you need me." Mike whistled from the back seat and I gave him a glare from the rear view mirror. Dae gave me directions to the clinic that she worked at. When I parked the car, she went in and I recognized Ri from the website when Mike and I walked in. Dae asked us to wait for her in her office while she went to get some forms. We followed Ri to Dae's office.

"Can I get you gentlemen something to drink?" Mike shook his head no and I asked for water. After she left, Mike looked at me and shook his head. "This is your chance. Don't blow it."

Suddenly the door opened and Jong was standing there with a confused look on his face. "Excuse me, I was looking for Dr. Dae. I didn't know she had company."

Immediately, I stood up. Walking to face him head on I responded "She's taking care of something but, she will be back." Jong looked at me from head to toe and replied "I know she will. Let her know that I will be in my office and we can continue our discussion." I knew what he meant and I didn't like the fact he was teasing me about Dae. Then he added "Maybe you can join us for lunch. Dae loved the restaurant I took her to and I'm sure that Ri would like to have her family with us."
