Author's POV (Jin above)

Dae and Jong were in the prep are to wash their hands. The lather from the liquid soap washed down the drain. The warm water that dripped from her hands put her into a high attentive state of mind. Concentration was key for any surgery. However, there was more at stake and distractions didn't exist.

In the meantime, the OR was almost ready to start the surgery. Ri brought several documents and consent forms that Dae told her to keep. After the injection, her team waited for the sedative to kick in before anesthesia.

Once Jong gave the order for anesthesia, a breathing tube was inserted into the windpipe. They were in the lead but there were some concerns that Dae and Jong talked about prior to surgery. This was the final case. Sandi, the Golden Retriever case that was assigned to Dae, was in the OR.

Everyone was excited that Dae found a solution to prolong the dogs life. Knowing that she was preparing for the surgery, everyone fist bumps each other. Many were excited about the prize money while others wanted to look good for the television crew.

Dr. Park walks in and everyone stood still. This was the moment of truth for the Paw Care Clinic. "Alright, do we have the transfusion ready?" Dr. Park asked.

"VCA has theirs but, we didn't get the order."

"What do you mean? The forms were sent out in advance." Dr. Park asked.

He knew that Dae was on her way in to start the surgery. Sandi needed a heart transplant and due to so many health issues, a table death was the main concern. When Dae walks in, everyone's eyes snapped in her direction. When she approached the surgery table, she gave Jong a nod.

"Are we ready to begin Dr. Park?"

The look on his face concerned her. "Dr. Park?" He didn't respond. She looked over at Molly and she rolled her eyes. Other staff members looked at Dae and waited for her to give instructions. Taking a deep breath, she looks over at the table and checked for any missing surgery instruments. Thinking out loud, she looks at each tool that she needed for the surgery. "Forceps, clamps, scalpel." One by one, she knew something was missing.
