What happens when jealousy come in-between family? Dae, Serene and Becca have to face their own hardships. Although they have each other, is sisterhood enough for them to get through tragedy, trials and betrayal?
Papa made sure that he made enough meat for Mike and Serene since they would bicker over food. He let me make the sauce like we always did. He taught me how to make it since childhood but, Papa was surprised when I told him that Momma told me that he was on a diet. His doctor wanted him to eat more vegetables and loose a few pounds which wasn't bad. Mike went for the marinated chicken and Serene went for the ribs. I sat there laughing as Mike and Serene stare each other down over the meat. Papa was upset watching Mike bite into the marinated chicken knowing he couldn't eat it. Mama made sure that he cut down on his meat intake. "Dad. You want to try some kale salad? Remember the doctor said that you need to eat more vegetables."

Papa continued to look at Mike eating away. I knew Mama was looking out for Papa but, he had to take better care of himself. After making plates for everyone to take home, I start to cleanup. It's not a lot to do since everyone brought disposable table settings. I made everyone a plate to go. I made sure I put extra chicken on Mike's plate, he loves my marinated chicken. As I wipe down my counters, I jump when I hear Mossy bang the table yelling "DOMINO"! I was so amused because I understand where we get our competitive side from. We would always try to beat each other at any and everything. Everyone knows that Mossy was the best at dominoes, Daniel was the best at cards, Jonathan was the best at fixing things, I was the best at video games, and Marie was good for drama.
We all had a blast. We started a soul train line and danced while the music played from the radio. Growing up our parents would listen to us play our instruments. Our school had programs for music. I was the only one that continued playing after elementary school. My brothers took music because it was easy to get good grades. They were in band and I was in orchestra but, I loved it. I was considered gifted, so my parents sent me to a music school. It was walking distance from Marie's house and my parents thought that it would be a good idea for us to bond.
To me, music is truly an universal language. I would perform at the performing arts center when my school was chosen. I would practice all the time and my music teacher would give the best student a solo during the performance. At home it was more fun because we were competitive and played together for our parents. It's been an ongoing thing between us.
We would play together then each of us would have a solo when we played for our parents. Music kept us busy and out of trouble. Marie didn't like music. She hated the piano and I never understood why. She dropped out of school and never went back. I remember playing and looking for my parents in the audience. Once I moved in with Marie, they never came. I thought that she may change her mind one day but, that never happened. I always wondered why she hated me so much. Every time I think about it, I couldn't think of a valid reason. I had a feeling that if I stayed with my parents, my life would have been easier and that I wouldn't have to go through what I did with Marie.
Once I pack the food and everyone has their to go plates, we play a few more games. Before everyone leaves, I made sure that I saved me a pitcher of the margarita that I made. Since I have to go back to work tomorrow, I wanted to take a hot bubble bath and light some candles. Adding a margarita was a bonus.
