Dae's POV (Jong above)

Jong insisted that I accompany him for his first surgery with VCA. He was extremely nervous but, I knew that he was going to do well. For support, I agreed to go watch the competition with Ri during the procedure. We were going to watch Jong on the monitor that was in the observation room. Since the appeal was still pending for my license, I couldn't work as a veterinarian. However, I was going to work as a veterinary assistant since there was no requirement for a license to work. It was better than nothing and I was able to start as soon as my paperwork was processed.

Jong insisted to give me a ride and Ri dropped off Ye-Jun with Serene. This was it. The final stage to determine who was going to win the competition. When Jong arrived, he rushed to my front door. Mid knock, I opened the door and he looked at me. It looked like he ran a marathon. Out of breath, he was sweaty and he had bags under his eyes.

Once we made it to the car, there was traffic due to an accident on the freeway. Instead, the GPS rerouted us to take the back way. I sent Ri a text to stall for time once she arrives to the venue. Assuring Jong that this was a surgery that he knew too well, it was the fact that I wasn't there as his partner. Emphasizing that they barely made it to the finals, the competition was delayed because there were some bribes that required investigation.

No matter how much I wanted my license back, I had to focus on my priorities which was to raise Ye-Jun the best way I can and hopefully he will grow up to be a man that Jin and I wanted him to be. Explaining that he was suspicious about Molly's behavior, he wanted me to watch his back since Ri was going to be occupied with paperwork and preparations. He continued to focus on the road.

"Jong, c'mon. Don't be nervous. You can do this."

He didn't respond to me. He just continued to drive avoiding eye contact. He needed me to reassure him and working under pressure was intense because he would be alone during surgery with a few staff members.

"I know that you're nervous about the procedure. Tell me what's wrong?"

"What if I mess up?"

"Just like we practiced, just make sure that you take your time and don't rush the procedure trying to beat the clock."

Doubting himself, I knew that he was a natural when it came to animals

Doubting himself, I knew that he was a natural when it came to animals. He was passionate and determined but this was different. Hearing the ringtone come from my purse, I reached for my phone and saw Ri's name displayed across the screen. Tapping the green phone icon to answer the call, Ri was able to stall but we had to hurry. Asking about Jong's nervousness, she already had some soothing tea waiting for him. She would assist with surgeries when I used to work at the Paw Care Clinic so I wanted her to help Jong so that he can have someone in the operating room that he was comfortable with besides me.

"Ri, make sure that you watch Molly. Jong said that she's been acting strange."

"I think that she may have something to do with the table death when Mrs. Walsh complained to the board of directors." Ri replied.
