Quinn sat at a table watching Isabella and Happy with their son. It was still hard for him to believe Happy had actually settled down with a wife and child. Seeing it with his own eyes, he couldn't deny it. Clearly the Killah loved his family going by the looks he shot his wife. Watching Isabella, it was clear that no one existed besides Happy to her. Quinn sat there nursing a beer as he watched the couple carefully. The Tacoma Killah did something he never did when his son began babbling at him. Happy smiled. It was odd to Quinn but if Happy were content with his life now then who was he to judge?
Clay shouted to everyone reminding them of Gemma's family dinner and the party at the clubhouse afterwards. Cheers could be heard as the bikers were enthused by the idea of the wild party that would be happening that night. Crow eaters and alcohol would abound for any Son who wanted them. Happy didn't care about the scene anymore. He just wanted to be with his wife and son. They would go to Gemma's dinner, that wasn't an option, but afterwards he would escort his family home. Happy finally looked back to Isabella who was just smiling at him as she watched him with their son with a look of utter adoration. "I love you so much, Is. You and him both." Happy quietly told her.
After a while, the baby began to get cranky so she took him to Happy's dorm room to feed and change him before setting him in the play pen that had been set up. After standing up from making sure her son would be safe and had toys to occupy himself with, she looked around for her husband. She found he had moved to sit with Quinn. With a smile, she moved to sit back down where they'd been sitting earlier and just watched everyone around her. The spirits were high, there was no stress, and she didn't think her life could get any better.
"You patched into SAMCRO?" Happy asked Quinn when he walked over after noticing his brother.
"It's good to see you, man." Quinn told Happy when the Killah walked over, "Been a while. Yeah, I patched in months ago."
"Good to have you here." Happy replied.
"I heard you took an 'ol lady and have a kid." Quinn stated.
"Yeah."
"Never thought I'd see the day, man. How'd that happen?" Quinn asked.
Happy chuckled remembering the first time she'd come to the lot. Then the visits for her father about the lot next door.
"We met when she came to have a flat fixed. I knew then that I had to have her. She's a special woman. Not like these whores who flock to the club." Happy stated, "After a while we started dating. Got married and then I put my ink on her."
"I'm happy for you, man. Everyone needs a good woman by his side." Quinn replied.
"Thanks. She's amazing. No judgements. No looking down on the club. Always cheerful and optimistic." Happy told his brother.
Quinn remained quiet as his brother spoke. Happy didn't speak a lot or often so hearing him now was a bit strange. He wondered what this woman had done to the man Quinn knew.
"She's an amazing cook too which is nice. I always come home to a nice home cooked meal. Well, I did. Not sure what the routine is now with the baby." Happy shrugged.
Quinn remained quiet not sure if Happy had anything else to say. Hearing his wife's laughter, he looked around to see her sitting at the bar with Lyla chatting and laughing at something. His lips upturned slightly as he watched his 'ol lady. He was so grateful she had integrated into his lifestyle as well as she did. With her upbringing and coming from wealth, he hadn't been sure she would fit in with his crowd. Her and her parents were good upstanding citizens. He and his club were outlaw bikers. It didn't seem like a likely match but there they were.
Later that evening, Isabella was sitting in the living room at Gemma and Clay's making sure her son didn't get into anything he wasn't supposed to. Tara, Lyla, and Gemma were putting the finishing touches on dinner while the men sat around drinking beer and chatting about random things. Once dinner had been called, Isabella stood up and picked up her son. Happy told her to put him in his car seat so she could eat in peace. They put the car seat on a chair in between them at the end of the table so they could make sure he didn't get into any trouble and so Axel could see both his parents.
Lyla got Isabella talking about her latest novel. The porn star expressed how much she'd loved the first "Handsome and Haunting" book and was looking forward to the sequel. Isabella thanked her with a wide smile. Opie just shook his head at the two women. Axel began babbling making both his parents smile at him. She gave him a green bean to nibble on before going back to chatting with Lyla about her books. Opie engaged Happy in chat about modifications to their bikes. Laughter, jokes, and general sense of relief radiated from the table as everyone sat together for the first time in eighteen months.
After dinner as everyone is sitting around having a drink and chatting, Isabella fed and changed Axel then moved back into the living room with the other 'ol ladies. The men were outside in the backyard being loud and crazy. Isabella loved it. Her life had been boring before she met Happy. It was too predictable and stable. She liked how things were never predictable with her husband. Sure the danger was real and she knew being with him could get her hurt again but she didn't care. The women chatted about family, children, and work while Isabella let her son toddle around the living room.
"Hey Tig." Happy stated as he moved over to where the SAA was standing.
"Hey man."
"I just wanted to thank you for looking out for my 'ol lady." Happy stated, "She told me what happened that one night with the intruder."
"Hey man, it's what we do. We watch out for one another including our families." Tig replied as he slapped Happy's shoulder.
"It's still appreciated." Happy told his brother.
Later that evening Happy followed his 'ol lady home. He was skipping the party in favor of his wife. She wanted to get Axel a bath before bed so Happy headed to their room. Once the child had been bathed and into his pajamas, she held him in her arms as she rocked them and read him a story. He kept slapping at the book making her chuckle. Happy stood in the doorway and watched his wife reading to their son. It took a few stories and rocking until the boy had finally drifted off to sleep. Isabella stood up but Happy made his way across the room to take his son out of her arms so he could lay Axel in his crib.
"The room looks awesome. You did a good job in decorating." Happy told her as they walked across the hall to their room.
"I had a lot of help in making it look that way. Tig and Opie have been so kind to me while you were away." She replied as he encircled her waist with his arms.
"I've missed you, Is." He quietly told her.
She looked up into his darkening eyes and smiled, "I've missed you too."
"You know you're going to be walking funny for a few days by the time I'm done with you." He told her making her smile again.
"I'd expect nothing less." She retorted before he picked her up off the ground, "Show me who's 'ol lady I am."
Happy needed no more encouragement than that. He threw her onto the bed before quickly shedding all his clothes. She sat up on her knees and began stripping her own clothes off desperate for her husband's touch. It had been far too long and she missed his callous hands roaming her body. She missed how aggressive and demanding he got. She missed that deep voice giving her commands. There was no time for love-making. This was animalistic need. Eighteen months of pent-up frustration and fantasizing.
