The Compound is an actual place in Florida, it's lowkey creepy, do with that what you will

DC just wanted quiet.

Sure he could've told his partners and the states where he was going, and taken his phone, but he was only going to be gone for a few minutes anyway, what was the big deal?

It had been two hours.

DC liked the compound out in Florida; it was quiet, it was out of the way from the Statehouse and the cities, and it felt like his own secret spot. He always sat on one of the abandoned roads, looking up at the sky, head completely empty and himself feeling free.

The federal government leaned back on his hands, letting the warm sun touch his face and smiling. He almost forgot what got him wandering this time, in his more rational brain he could remember South Carolina and Mississippi arguing about football in the kitchen and South Carolina bringing his fist down so far it knocked down some pots by the sink. It had made such a noise it made DC jump, and then he decided to go on one of his walks.

DC was so lost in his calm, he didn't hear footsteps approaching him, and only opened his eyes when a shadow blocked the sun.

"Sha?" Louisiana whispered.

"Loui?" DC asked as Louisiana crouched next to him.

"Darlin' you gave us quite a scare, you need to start taking your phone." Louisiana pointed out. DC blinked his big brown eyes at the Cajun state, trying so hard not to break down in front of him. Louisiana studied his eyes carefully before kneeling in front of him, touching his face.

"Pourquoi êtes-vous venu jusqu'ici?" (Why'd you come all the way out here?) Louisiana asked. DC tried to stop the hitch in his breath and keep the tears from falling.

"Je voulais juste le calme." (Just wanted calm.) DC responded and Louisiana chuckled, his French was still rusty, but his partner was getting the hang of it.

"Vous êtes surmené. Tu as besoin de repos." (You're overworked. You need rest.) Louisiana whispered. DC shook his head, the tears threatening to fall, and trying to look away from the Cajun. Louisiana forcibly made him turn his head to face him, looking at him as serious as DC had ever seen him.

"Vous avez vécu un événement dramatique et vous ne vous êtes pas permis de guérir. Vous enlevez le reste du travail aujourd'hui et demain et vous vous reposez. Comprenez-vous?" (You've been through a dramatic event and didn't allow yourself to heal. You're taking off the rest of work today and tomorrow and resting. Do you understand?) Louisiana ordered. DC's eyes went wide, and he blushed hard at Louisiana's forceful tone.

"Est-ce que c'est compris?" (Is that understood?) Louisiana asked again, and DC was as red as a tomato now.

"Yes." DC whispered, leaning in and kissing Louisiana forcibly. Louisiana smiled into the kiss, letting his boyfriend go for a few minutes before gently pushing him back. DC whined a little.

"Later darlin'." Louisiana whispered. "Right now, we've got some worried partners at home who need to know you're alive."

Later that night when DC was blissed out and happy, Louisiana wandered into the kitchen for a glass of water before he turned in for the night officially. As he got himself a glass of water, he heard something vibrating on the counter, and turned to see what it was. DC's cellphone was going over, obviously abandoned before DC went on his little "walk". Louisiana moved closer to the phone to see not only several calls from their other partners demanding where DC was, but also from IDC asking about paperwork and bills and other such nonsense that the government twins went over on a daily basis. The southern state glanced back over at the open door of his room; he could see DC's face partially in the mattress, completely boneless and smiling, just snoring away. Louisiana chuckled then looked down at DC's phone again as it went off again.

Wordlessly, Louisiana turned the phone off, silencing it for good and leaving all of DC's messages unanswered.

"Sorry sha." Louisiana said with a smile, putting DC's phone back on the counter and making his way back to his bedroom. "DC's goin' to be ghost for a few days."
