"Florida, how do you call Pennsylvania?"

"Why do you want to learn about us all of a sudden?"

Washington poked his head into IDC's office.

"Hey IDC, there's people here to see you." Washington announced.

"Really?" IDC asked grabbing her planner off the desk and flipping through it. "I didn't have any meetings for the day."

"It's..." Washington sighed. "Urgent."

"Send 'em in then." IDC ordered going back to her paperwork. She heard the scuffling of feet entering her office, and she glanced up, then groaned.

"REALLY?" IDC yelled at the sight of her brother's five boyfriend's standing in front of her desks. She could barely tolerate four on a good day, New York was alright, but all five were just asking for trouble.

"Unless my brother is actively dying I don't want to hear from you all." IDC announced going back to her paperwork. Texas cleared his throat and took off his hat, approaching his boyfriend's sister.

"IDC, we came to you with a proposition." Texas began.

"A proposition? You would say that." California muttered.

"It's the gentleman's thing to say!" Texas yelled.

"I knew we should've written this down." New York sighed face palming.

"This is just wasting my time." IDC pointed out. Louisiana stepped forward, ignoring the elbow to the side for not taking off his hat.

"It's about DC." Louisiana announced finally getting the international branch of the government's attention. "We've been together one year and, it's been the best year of our lives."

"And we want many more." Florida added proudly.

"Your numbers continue to be the way they are, you'll have many more years." IDC muttered already done with this and it hadn't even been five minutes yet.

"Look, the point is." Texas interrupted. "We would like the honor, the privilege, of asking your permission--"

"We want to ask DC to marry us." Florida announced. IDC dropped her pen in shock and the other four boyfriends groaned.

"Way to be blunt and to the point." California moaned.

"I like it." New York said with a shrug.

"Married?" IDC whispered, voice slightly shaking.

"This past year has been the best year of our lives, DC made this entire thing whole. We didn't think starting these meetings that we'd fall in love, but God sometimes I thank whoevers up there for this pandemic because we wouldn't have met him otherwise. We love him with all our hearts, and I know we're all immortal but we want to spend however long we can with him together. May we have his hand in marriage?" Louisiana asked. Silence filled IDC's office; she looked at the faces of her brother's boyfriends, all hopeful, all waiting to hear her response. Her stomach twisted in knots.

"You can't....there's six of you...." IDC whispered.

"Oh we figured it out." Florida announced proudly. "We'll all marry DC, then we'll take turns...."

"No. Y'know what no. You don't have my permission." IDC announced.

"WHAT?" All five yelled.

"Why the hell not?" Texas demanded.

"It'd be complicated, and plus he's not ready." IDC explained.

"Is that your real opinion, or is that your weird complex about letting DC go?" California asked, crossing his arms. IDC gritted her teeth.

"Shut up California." IDC ordered.

"No you really do have a problem letting him go don't you? When will you figure out he's an adult?" New York asked.

"None of you know what we've been through! NONE of you could know what it was like growing up." IDC yelled jumping up. She took a deep breath and sat back down at her desk.

"You need to go, I have work." IDC announced. The five states, not in the mood to argue with their brother's sister, all turned and began to leave. Louisiana hung back and turned back to the international government.

"IDC." Louisiana called making her look up. "We're marrying that boy anyway, I hope you know that." With that, Louisiana left, leaving IDC all alone. IDC tossed her pen off to her side in frustration, wishing she could just scream and go to Orlando and drag DC home. IDC sat back in her chair and gazed at the pictures on her desk, eyes falling to a picture of her and DC sitting in front of the Lincoln steps eating their lunch together. She picked up the picture and swallowed hard, keeping her tears in. No one could understand why she was so overprotective of her twin.
