A/N: A continuation of Burn, now from the main fives side

"These are your real COVID numbers, I found them in a drawer in Washington's desk."

The main five looked down at the papers, up again at each other and laughed.

DC adjusted his suit and looked at himself in the mirror. He really hated it when he had a meeting right when he landed in Washington, but it couldn't be helped. There was paperwork to be done, and crisis meetings to attend, this was his life. DC adjusted his tie, out of the corner of his eye spying Florida leaning in the doorframe of his bedroom staring at him. This wasn't uncommon; sometimes his boyfriend just liked to stare at him sometimes, like he couldn't believe he was dating him. DC smiled and faced Florida, holding out his arms.

"How do I look?" DC asked.

"You look....great DC." Florida whispered, eyes fell to the floor, and he slithered away. DC watched his boyfriend go confused. Odd, Florida seemed upset. Maybe Louisiana was giving him a hard time about not coming over again.

"You think we're the only ones who fudge our numbers?" Florida laughed.

"I'm pretty sure the rest of the south is worse than me about my numbers." Texas added.

"If this was your ammo, it's pretty weak." New York pointed out.

DC carried his bag out of his room with Washington following.

"Tomorrow you have to have lunch with MTG." Washington announced. He rolled his eyes at the groan.

"I'm sorry but you have to do it." Washington pointed out as DC put his bag down.

"Can't I just fake food poisoning again?" DC moaned.

"IDC said no." Washington announced to another groan. DC sighed and looked out at the living room as Washington scurried away. Louisiana and New York sat together watching football with a few other states, eyes firmly glued to the screen and not paying attention to anyone else.

"Loui." DC called and Louisiana turned to face him. "Is Dia okay? He seemed upset."

"He's fine darlin' just in a mood." Louisiana explained with a soft smile, and the fed noted how wet his eyes looked.

"Okay. Just checking." DC whispered, feeling a little more water. He turned to go grab another bag from his room when New York called him back.

"Cherry you look great today." New York announced softly. DC turned around and smiled.

"Thanks Yorkie."

"So you don't care? The numbers you've brought to the table were lies!"

"We ain't the only ones." Texas pointed out with a glare.

"Yeah. Where's Oregon's numbers on that sheet? Or Massachusetts? We're not the bad guys here." California added.

"But if these got out, you'd be labeled as liars! You'll lose the respect of everyone you know!" There was a pause, and it was clear the five weren't biting.

"And besides, what would DC think?"

"Sugar, you forget these." Texas announced approaching DC who was getting his stuff all in order in the living room. DC glanced up and smiled at the approaching cowboy, who held a bunch of documents in his hands.

"Thanks Tex." DC said with a smile taking the docs. "I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body." He took the docs from Texas, but noted how his hand seemed to linger on his as if it were the last time he'd ever touch him.
