A/N: I straight up can't sleep so I'm finishing this
Also I hope the love confession wasn't too quick but I feel like the main five and DC were tittering on the edge of that confession long before DC left
When DC woke up that morning, he knew he had to act quickly.
Bryan was already gone, of course, either to try to book a gig from a fancy agent waiting for their coffee at Starbucks or banging one of his side pieces. DC had about four hours until he got home, which sounded like a lot but in reality he had so much to collect he knew he'd be getting out by the skin of his teeth.
As soon as DC confided in IDC in what he was doing, IDC wanted to send anyone, Washington, Gov, hell one of the guards that worked out front of the building they worked at, to protect him. She pointed out Bryan knew where DC worked, where IDC lived, and he needed a backup. But DC refused claiming he already had a plan in motion.
He was going to Orlando.
None of the states, including the main five, knew he was doing this, and DC felt a twinge of guilt for just appearing at their doorstep. But after breaking down in New York's arms, and confessing he wanted to leave Bryan, he knew in his gut they'd be expecting him.
Quietly DC got up, and recounted the list in his head of everything he needed to gather. Ever since....the fight....he'd been secretly putting his clothes in a suitcase in the government building, which Gov promised to leave at the airport for him when he left. All he had to do was finish his closet, pack up some valuables, grab his ticket and go.
DC felt a little emotional as he finished his closet and retrieved his documents from the folder in the kitchen; he had hoped when Bryan agreed to move in with him that this would be the start of something great. That Bryan would shake his playboy ways, find a well paying job, and they could settle down, get married, and start a family. But instead the apartment turned into a prison everytime DC came home; of yelling, and fights, of broken glass.....and abuse. DC shut his eyes and tried to stop the tears from falling as he collected the last of his documents and stuffed them in his suitcase. He couldn't back out now, he had to go. It couldn't be like the last two times, this had to be it.
The fed surprised himself at how short of a time it took to finally pack up all of his things; finishing in a measly two hours. He grabbed his old stuffed bunny off the bed, gave it a squeeze, before moving out of the apartment for the last time, looking back at the place that held so many memories once more, before slowly closing the door. For the first time in two years, DC felt free, like he could walk on water. He practically skipped as he took the elevator down and walked through the lobby, destination in mind.
As he exited the apartment building, and looked around the crowded block his blood froze in his veins. Bryan was heading his way, and he looked pissed. He must've been kicked out of another Starbucks and was coming home to make it DC's problem. DC knew he had to act fast; he pulled up the corners of his jacket and moved the opposite way, pushing through the crowds hoping Bryan didn't see him.
"CiCi?" Bryan called in the distance.
Fuck.
Luckily, the apartment building was only one block away from a Metro station, so DC was able to duck underground quickly, praying he didn't fall on the steep stairs going down holy hell didn't IDC say they were fixing these? Still in the distance, he could hear Bryan screaming.
"Weren't you working today? Where the hell do you think you're going?"
DC ignored the yell of the guards as he jumped the ticket station, flashing his government idea to him, and telling himself to remember to text IDC to send the train some money when he was safe. He quickly found the route to get to the airport, and hurried to the station, thanking any God that might be up in the sky that he arrived just as the train was coming. DC could barely contain himself as the train pulled up, ignoring all warnings, he powdered through the crowds of people leaving and sat in one of the chairs. The people filed in too slowly for his taste, and pretty soon he could see Bryan standing on the stairs leading to the platform. Luck wasn't on DC's side today as the man locked eyes with the fed.
