Demi's POV

The next day, when I woke up bright and early, I checked my phone and saw that I received an email from Nick. A smile instantly grew across my face. I felt myself becoming increasingly curious and excited at the thought of him responding to last night's events. I quickly opened up the e-mail, and began reading.

Ms. Lovato,

After having a discussion with my PI and the NYC PD, we have come to a decision that is is safe for you to resume your work, here at the office. I have increased the security system at JOCO, and there will be a detail on you at all times. I ask that you please use the driver that I have assigned to you, as he will take you to and from work in order to ensure your safety. Thank you.

Mr. Jonas

I sat back and skimmed through Nick's email a few more times after reading it through. I was a little disappointed, and shocked that he did not mention anything about what happened between us. Maybe he was just playing it safe and making sure that we did not have a paper trail, so that nobody could accuse us of not being "professional". Work shall be pretty interesting I thought to myself as I went ahead and quickly got ready for work.

As I threw my outfit together, and made sure my hair was in place, I found myself becoming nervous. I wasn't sure why, but I am sure it was because I didn't know what to expect. I wonder if anyone is going to ask where I was, or why I left? Nick and I never really went over our "cover" story. I guess I will just have to make something up. I looked in the mirror one last time and then went and headed downstairs, towards the main street. Once I got out there, I saw a black car parked on the side, with a man leaning against the car.

"Ms. Lovato?" He asked as he leaned off the car and stood up a little bit straighter.

"Yes, Hi, are you here to pick me up?" I asked him as I made my way closer to him.

"Upon request of Mr. Jonas," he said as he smiled and opened the door for me to get in. I rolled my eyes and quickly got into the car. I feel like Nick was being a little ridiculous with having someone pick me up from my house, just to take me to work, and to have a car following close behind, but whatever. I sat back and enjoyed the ride.

As soon as we pulled up to JOCO I immediately exited the vehicle and thanked my driver. I began walking up the long pathway that lead to the main entrance of the building and my heart was beginning to race. I was so nervous to be back here and also to see Nick. I wanted to get him alone, so that we could talk about last night, but I also wanted to give him time to come to me. He knew where I stood, so now I need to know where he stands. Let's just hope he let's me know soon.

I continued to walk inside the building, and then got on the first elevator up to my floor. Once the doors sprang open, I walked in and saw that there was a new receptionist sitting at the desk. Wonder what happened to the last one?

"Hi, I'm Demi," I said as I walked up to her. The brown haired woman glanced up, with a huge smile all over her face.

"Demi, It's a pleasure, I am Kiara. Mr. Jonas mentioned that you were returning today after your trip. I hope you had a nice time," She said as she smiled up at me.

"My trip?" I asked a little unsure of what she was talking about. Kiara just looked up and nodded her head.

"Oh, yes! Sorry, my mind is all over the place right now. Yes, my trip was great. Do you happen to know where Mr. Jonas is right now? I was needing to speak to him," I explained to her.

"He is in a meeting right now with Ms. Culpo. He said it would be brief," She casually said.

The moment I heard that Nick was inside with Olivia, I immediately found myself cringing. I felt sick to my stomach, and could feel my blood boiling. Maybe this was Nick trying to show me that he wasn't interested? Maybe he was trying to show me that he was with Olivia?

I looked down at my phone, that was in my hand, and then back up at Kiara, "Okay, thank you," I said as I began to head down towards my office. Once I made it inside, I immediately shut the door and sat at my desk. I looked at the big stack of papers that had been placed on my desk, which I assume were by Nick, and let out a deep sigh. Well, this is not how I wanted to start my day off. Before I got started on my never ending to-do list, I grabbed my coffee mug and made a quick trip to the break room. As I was waiting for my keurig cup to brew, I heard Nick walking down the hallway with Olivia. They were talking and laughing, but I couldn't pinpoint about what.

"Okay, I will see you, Saturday, Nick," I heard Olivia say with fake, little, laugh, that drove me crazy.

"Okay, Bye, Liv," I heard Nick say, and then heard Olivia's footsteps starting to fade away. I figured that was my cue to quickly get back to my office. I grabbed my coffee cup, and quickly exited the break room, and made a run of it. As I quickly walked, I heard Nick call after me.

"Oh, hey, Demi.." I heard him call out, but I continued to just ignore him and keep on walking. Once I reached my office, I let out a sigh of relief, thinking I had lost Nick, but he came quickly right behind.

"Demi, I was trying to talk to you," he said as he stood there, making an arm gesture.

"What's up?" I asked him, curious if he was going to bring up what happened last night between us.

"I wanted to make sure that you saw that I changed our schedule today. We have a meeting with a future client in about an hour," he said as he crossed his arms. I tilted my head, and just started at him, completely shocked that he did not want to comment at all about last night. I rolled my eyes, and then shook my head. "Well, is that okay?" He asked me, trying to get me to speak.

"Well, you are the boss, aren't you? Looks like I don't have a choice," I said as I turned and flipped open a file and pretended to get to work on the pile of paperwork that sat on my desk. I could feel Nick standing there, watching me, but I refused to look up. He let out a grunt, and then turned and left, shutting my door on the way out. Once the door shut, I flung my pen down on the desk, and leaned back in my chair. My hands came over my face, and all I wanted to do was cry. I took a few deep breaths and tried to compose myself as best as I could. I went ahead and continued working, until I was called into Nick's over for our meeting with our future client. I grabbed my belongings and then headed over to his office.

During the course of the meeting, I took a lot of record keeping, and personal note taking. I tried to avoid any eye contact with Nick, because I was so irritated, but it didn't last long. Once the meeting ended, I began to gather my things so that I could leave.

"Demi, could you stay around for a minute?" He casually asked me. I turned around to look at him, and nodded my head. As I set my belongings back down on the table, where we had just held our meeting, my heart began to beat rapidly. I had no idea, what Nick was about to say, but I was eager to find out.

"So, I thought about what you yelled at me the other night.." He said as he stopped and looked down at his watch, and then rubbed his forehead with his hand. I couldn't tell what he was thinking. He appeared upset, but I was having a hard time reading him. "I don't want to complicate our work relationship with awkwardness, so I hope we can pretend that didn't happen," he said as he looked back up at me, and just stared. I felt my heart sting at Nick's words, and I wanted to cry. Maybe this was what I get for breaking up with Wilmer for having feelings for someone else. Maybe I deserved this. I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat and then spoke up.

"I understand. I assure you that our work relationship will remain intact with zero awkwardness, " I said as I put on my best smile and turned to walk away.

As I made my way down the hall to my office, I thought about everything that had just happened. I thought about last nights events, and I thought about everything that Nick and I have been through. I wasn't going to give up that easily. One way or another I was going to make Nick realize that he is missing out. I am going to make him realize that he wants me, and most of all that he can't live without me. So, I hope he is ready, because this girl, wont give up.
