Author's Note: I want to apologize to all my readers for taking so long to update this story. I truly have been so unbelievably busy, and had writer's block for a while. However, I can officially say that I am back and really happy to be writing again. I want to thank Jordan @Nicknemidemi for getting me back to myself and back to writing. I love you so much, girl! Anyways... hope you enjoy the update. Let me know what you think!

Nick's POV

I walked in the door and watched as Demi got up off the couch. I looked around and saw that Marissa took off. "I got your favorite ice cream, babe," I proudly said to her as I made my way into the kitchen. I set the tubs down on the counter, and opened up the fridge. I heard Demi come up behind me, and watched as she leaned down on the counter.

"So... I think I'm ready," She said, causing me to stop what I was doing and look over at her.

For what?" I asked curiously, wondering if she was referring to our conversation on the future. I watched as she looked down and then back up at me quickly. She was shuffling her fingers, and she let out a deep breathe.

"To talk," she said so matter of factly.

As soon as I heard Demi say that she was ready to talk, I quickly put away the ice cream ,that I had bought us, and walked around to Demi. I reached out for her hand, "Then, let's talk," I said with a warming smile, as I took her hand and guided her over to the couch, so that we could talk.

I sat down next to Demi, and held her hand. We sat for a few minutes in silence, and before she could say anything, I spoke up.
"Listen, Demi. I wanted to apology to you," I said. Her eyes quickly met mine, and her brows scrunched together.

"Apologize for what?" She softly asked.

I bite my lip before explaining to Demi what I was sorry for. I took a second to gather my thoughts, and tried to think of the best way on how to explain this, "Well.. I wanted to apologize to you for my proposal. I know that I didn't have a ring, and it wasn't the most ideal way to propose to someone, but I wanted you to know that it wasn't how I was planning on proposing, and I do want to spend my life with you, one day, when you are ready," I said as I watched and waited for her to say something but she just stared at me, and kept quiet.
"I have a question," I quickly spoke up again.

Demi looked up, and sat up straight, as she gripped my hand a little tighter, "I know my proposal wasn't the greatest, and I didn't have a ring, but If  I had, and it was more romantic, would you have said yes?" I asked her as I held my breathe, waiting for her to reply.

Demi was fidgety as she looked down at her hands, and then back up at me, "I.. I'm not sure. I don't want to get married just because you feel sorry for me, or because I may not have kids. I don't want to rush anything and I think that it would be for the wrong things. Yes, I love you, but I just don't want to get married because of my diagnosis," She said as she let go of my hand, and bite her lip.

I watched as she sat there quietly, and reserved. She struggled to look up at me, and I figured that was because she felt bad. I just wanted to reassure her that I wasn't proposing for her diagnosis. "Demi, I know it seems like I was proposing for your diagnosis, and it seemed like I was trying to rush our time together, but I want you to know that since we have been back together, there hasn't been a second that goes by where I don't think of my future involving you. The diagnosis got me thinking, and yes it may have been a factor, but it was not the reason why. I love you so much, and one day, when you are ready, I want to spend the rest of my life with you," I said, trying to explain the situation and why I had originally proposed.

I watched as Demi's lips turned up into a smile. She reached out and grabbed my hand again. "I love you, Nick," She said as she leaned in and gently kissed my lips. I watched as she leaned back and then looked back up at me. "So, I have been thinking about our whole situation," She said again.
