The road was long, dark, and empty. The eldest managed to work the motorhome out from all the debris on the roads and had been driving for about three hours, taking the group away from the mess at the intersection. In the caravan, the maknaes and Yoongi were sound asleep, unaware of what was slowly approaching them.
"Hyung, I can drive if you need to sleep," Hoseok suggested in a whisper. He had been noticing Seokjin's eyelids flutter every so often with exhaustion and was worried that he would pass out at the steering wheel. Namjoon was sleeping deeply next to him so he was keeping quiet, making sure not to disturb him. "I honestly don't mind."
"You haven't slept yet, Hobi," Seokjin sighed, harshly shaking his head to wake himself up. It was getting harder for him to concentrate on the road but he kept forcing his eyes open, so he could stay alert.
"I'm not as tired as you are," Hoseok said, honesty lining his voice. "Not sleeping won't make much difference to me. You, on the other hand..."
"I can keep going for a while," Seokjin said, refusing to let himself sleep before his brothers were well-rested. He wanted Hoseok to rest for a little while, at least, but he knew he wasn't going to give up. With a sigh, he suggested a compromise. "You get some sleep and I'll wake you in an hour to take over. How about that?"
"Hyung, if I'm honest," Hoseok shook his head, looking over to the elder, who was practically asleep already. "I'd much rather take over now, than have you crash in a ditch somewhere because you're too tired."
Seokjin chuckled half-heartedly at this, considering this possibility, before pulling the truck over to the side of the road and putting the handbrake on. He turned to Hoseok with a fatigued, yet amused, expression.
"Fine," He said, flashing Hoseok a genuinely grateful smile. If he was being honest with himself, he was glad of the break. He just hated having to rely on his brothers when it was meant to be the other way around.
"Thank you," Hoseok smiled back, the care for his brother evident in his eyes. "Why don't you go and get in one of those bunks? Get some proper rest?"
"Yeah, that's not a bad idea," Seokjin nodded in agreement. He peeked out of his window, checking to see if it was safe enough to get out of the truck. "I think I'll do that."
Hoseok smiled at the elder. His speech was slurred due to how tired he was and Hobi knew just how much he would love to be able to sleep in a real bed for a change. The bunks would just have to make do for now, but none of them was complaining. It was definitely better than sleeping on the floor or in a car.
"Go and settle," Hoseok said, watching as his hyung climbed out of the truck. "I'll keep driving until morning, see if we can actually get somewhere."
"Thank you, Hoseokie," Seokjin smiled, a small shiver going down his spine as he stood outside the truck. "I really mean it."
"Don't worry about it," Hoseok chuckled, pulling the door away from the eldest to shut it. It was far too cold to stand around and chat, never mind too dangerous out on the open road.
Seokjin chuckled to himself, not for any particular reason, before entering the caravan quietly. As he stepped inside and closed the door, he let out a small sigh of relief from being in the warm.
He looked around the area of the caravan, spotting Yoongi sleeping with Jimin in his arms. The sight made the elder's heart warm. If he didn't know any better, he would have said they looked peaceful. Deep down, though, he knew none of them felt peace at the moment. They were all just too drained to stay awake now.
He decided to leave the younger two as they were and turned the other way, choosing a bunk to sleep in. He saw the two youngest in the top left bunk. Taehyung had his arms wrapped around Jungkook's waist as they both slept, deeply. The curtain of the bunk was pushed back, which Seokjin knew was because Jungkook didn't like small spaces. He found the fact that the maknae had let Taehyung sleep with him, instead of forcing him to get in a different bunk, rather funny. But then again, he knew they needed to comfort each other right now.
