When Baekhyun left, the community managed to pick off the remaining dead he left behind though, under the scorching heat of summer, it was a physically and emotionally destroying task.
Having finally taken them all out, and finally realising Dawon had returned in secret, they let her take over and give people instructions. Her strongest men formed a strong defence on the top floor of the building, taking watch through the windows and taking shifts with sniper rifles. It took a while but, slowly, they managed to regain control of their field.
Seokjin and Namjoon were close to collapsing when the fight was over and, even after a couple of nights, they were still no closer to regaining any of their energy.
Having Yoongi, Jimin, and Taehyung in the worst state they had ever seen them, even with Woosung home and able to help them, their hearts just broke and didn't heal after the following days.
"...Hoseok's with him now... We had to intubate him last night..." The words came and went, drifting in and out of Yoongi's mind, making him question whether he was awake or just dreaming. "... He was in and out before going into... I really don't think he'll pull through this time..."
"...He's shocked us before..." Another voice came, though this time Yoongi was able to distinguish the fact that Dawon was speaking. "...Just focus on keeping him stable until Yoongi wakes... take it from there..."
Yoongi opened his mouth to ask what they were talking but his words came out as a hoarse whisper of jibberish, shocking him into fluttering his eyes open to find out what the hell was going on. He was met with the woman speaking to Woosung of all people to his confusion.
"And the kid?" Dawon asked, her words making more sense to the man as he started to focus. "What about her?"
"I've said for Hyejin to watch her, though she put up quite the tantrum," Woosung sighed, his hands in his pockets as he leaned against the wall, facing the woman. "Seriously, Dawon. What were you thinking, taking her? You knew what would happen."
"I didn't, and Namjoon was the one who made the decision. I had no idea who she was," Dawon defended herself, glaring at the man little for the accusation.
Yoongi opened his mouth again, attempting to speak as he shifted to see the two, but it only caused his mind to spin as a tight pressure gripped around his head. Again, his voice only came out as a soft cough, as if he was clearing his throat. It was enough to grab the doctor's attention, though, and he was quick to move over to the bed.
"Yoongi?" Woosung spoke, gently grasping the man's wrist to check his pulse, shocked to see him awake so soon. "Can you understand me?"
"Ch-im..." Yoongi croaked out, only able to form the shortest version of his husband's name before feeling his dry throat start to burn. Woosung just exhaled deeply, through his nose, looking over to Dawon before turning back.
"No, I need you to focus on yourself right now, Yoongi," Woosung said, very well aware of how harsh he sounded but didn't mean it that way, at all. He sighed, his heart sinking when he saw the panic flooding the man's narrowed eyes. "You're alright, a few days of rest and you'll be back on your feet. You have a pretty serious head injury, okay? There are only signs of concussion now, nothing more, but you lost a lot of blood. You need to rest, as much as possible, stress free."
"Jimin..." Yoongi said again, his voice was weak but he was determined to get his point across that he needed to know his husband was okay, safe at least.
"Stress-free, Yoongi," Woosung shook his head, even though he knew they'd need to tell the man at some point. "We will talk when you've recovered more. No sooner."
