No eyes

Right in front of Taehyung and Jimin stood a tall, rotting, corpse, snarling with its bloodstained teeth on full show. It had knocked the door closed behind it, a blessing for the boys though they didn't know it yet. The stench of the old, dead flesh on its bones filled Taehyung's nostrils and made him want to throw up. He held Jimin as close to him as possible, not knowing what to do.

But...

Wait...

Why hadn't it killed them yet?

Taehyung's airways clamped up, in panic, when he realised the answer to his question.

The dead one had no eyes... Instead, there were two bloody, gouged out holes. It couldn't see them. It was blind!

But Taehyung wasn't stupid. It may not have been able to see them but it could definitely still hear them. He turned to look at the boy, who had frozen in his arms and gestured to him to stay quiet. Jimin, unfortunately, didn't quite understand the message though.

"Taehyungah..." The boy whimpered before Taehyung could tell him to keep silent, again. The dead one turned its head towards the boys, letting out a low, intimidating, growl as it sniffed the air.

Taehyung acted quickly, clamping his hand over the older boy's mouth. He felt awful when the boy fought against him, trying to prise his hand away. He was too tired for this, he surely wouldn't be able to cope if they had to fight.

The dead stepped closer, stumbling pathetically through the caravan. Even if they stayed quiet, there wasn't enough room for the boys to sneak past it. They were stuck. It was going to get them.

Taehyung kept his hand firmly over Jimin's mouth, making sure he stayed silent, while still holding him close. He could feel the tightness in his chest, from earlier, get worse and his breathing was getting a little noisy. It was because he was panicking and it was made even worse every time Jimin pushed against him to get away. Jimin was shaking and struggling in his arms and his inhaler was outside in the car with Jungkook.

There was no way he'd be able to get the boy out as well as himself. Even if he distracted the creature so Jimin could run, he wouldn't get out himself.

The wheeze trying to rip through his chest, as well, was enough to tell him he wouldn't be able to kill the monster slowly drawing closer to them. He was close to choking, but he knew if he started wheezing, it would be too loud and the monster would pounce. He tried, desperately, to hold his breath to stay silent. The air rattling in his lungs, pleading to escape, was making him dizzy but he tried to stay strong.

"I hope they're okay," Hoseok said, looking up at the other four around him. They were all just sitting around waiting, still. The chatter had died down, as had the sun, and the group was growing shivery and uncomfortable on the side of the roads, as the outside grew colder.

"I'm sure they are." Namjoon sighed, rubbing Hoseok's shoulder to relax him. He was so tense, they all were. "Just give them a little longer."

"As soon as they're ready, we should move," Jungkook said, holding his knees up to his chest, and shivered. "I don't feel that safe here."

"We're fine..." Seokjin went to reassure the maknae, as he looked around, but he cut him off, very suddenly, which made him jump.

"Oh, fuck!" The youngest exclaimed as he glanced behind him. He had thought he heard footsteps and turned to see, thinking Taehyung had come out. But, oh boy, was he wrong!

Behind the group, a herd of at least forty dead ones were lowly snarling as they closed in on them. They were so foul to look at, their drooling jaws hanging open with blood and dead flesh falling from their rotten teeth. It really was a grim sight.
