After a long day at school, little Jimin rocked, heel to toe, as he stood in his kitchen. He was creating a piece of art with biscuits he was preparing for him and his best friend, just so they had snacks to enjoy while having fun that evening. What started as an empty plate was now a mosaic of jam and cream, chocolate chip, and milk biscuits.
With a proud smile and a literal self-pat on the back, Jimin nodded to himself before grabbing his tray along with two juice boxes from the fridge, going to his best friend who was sitting on the couch. Taehyung was just waiting patiently, dubbing himself the first player on their game before Jimin could snatch the title himself.
"Do you think we should be playing this, Tae Tae?" He asked, in a small light voice, as he padded into the giant living room. Every room felt giant to the child of ten years still with the frame of a six-year-old. Sometimes, he found himself wishing that the world was smaller, even if it was just a little bit. That way, maybe he would fit in more.
"You worry too much," Taehyung chuckled from his position on the couch, his ever-so-slightly deeper voice shining with childish glee. He was just setting up Jimin's Xbox to play the new game he had found. He was excited to be able to play it, the adrenaline of rebellion flooding his veins at the thought of secretly playing a mature-rated game. "Your eomma and appa won't be home for hours. We have plenty of time."
Jimin just shrugged and placed the tray down on his mother's fancy oak coffee table, right next to Taehyung's rainbow of inhalers and his little mobile phone that his mother had given him for emergencies.
Taehyung was spending the night at his best friend's house, therefore all his belongings needed to be all over the house. Mr and Mrs Park wouldn't be happy when they got back from work, ut they were used to the boy making himself at home now.
Jimin just pushed his silky-fine hair out of his face before curling up into a ball, on the couch, reaching for his controller, making sure not to get the long wire tangled up again. He had spent hours, the other night, having to unknot it because he got it all caught up with his blanket.
"Why are you the first player?" Jimin pouted, noticing how it said the second player under his username, not happy with Taehyung's devious act while he was getting snacks.
"Because you're always first," Taehyung laughed, poking his best friend's chubby cheek, playfully.
"That's because I'm older," Jimin frowned, his little brow furrowed so much his eyes almost disappeared. That's how Taehyung knew he was being dramatic and decided to tease him.
"Hardly!" The younger boy scoffed, shaking his head that this debate was coming up again. Jimin always pointed out their age gap when he wanted something to go his way. It was a two month age difference, nothing big enough for Jimin to claim first every single time.
"I am ten years and six months old," Jimin said, firmly, creating dramatic hand gestures as he recited his argument from the heart. "And you are ten years and four months old. Therefore, I am older and I am first! Hand it over."
"Not likely," Taehyung mumbled, disappointment filling him as he read through the disclaimers the game was showing him. Jimin noticed the boy's shoulders sag but he thought he was just going to sulk because he was right, again.
"Just suck it up," Jimin laughed. "T's not my fault you were born after me."
"It's not that, Tiny," Taehyung sighed, placing his controller down and gesturing towards the screen. "We can't play it."
Jimin frowned over at the TV, expecting some sort of parental lock on it or something. Instead, the screen read: Warning, Flashing Lights.
"Oh, that doesn't bother me anymore," Jimin shrugged, touched by his friend's concern but just wanting to get on with the game before they got caught. "Eomma said I've grown out of that now."
