Chapter 17
As I told him my story, I felt a relief in the core of my being. Those grey eyes which softened every time my tears flow down. He never knew what effects he brought me by just his presence beside me.
“It doesn't end there, after that incident she became more strict and cruel to me. And you know what's worse?” Ikinuyom ko ang aking kamao sa aking hita. Walang emosyon akong tumawa. “Can you still accept me Nix if I tell you that...my uncle molested me? He touched me in places–” anas ko. My body is shaking with rage.

If..if only I've known you back then, I'll never let them do all those bad things to you,” galit niyang saad at mas humigpit ang yakap niya sa akin.
“Alam kong pamilya mo sila pero hindi ko sila mapapatawad sa ginawa nila sayo. I was beyond mad, Moonlight. You are tormented and I can't do anything. Fuck, why's life so hard for us?” he added and kissed my head again.
“They were monsters! Salvino was the main reason why I escaped and eventually came to this place. The wound on my left leg was from him. Nanlaban ako kaya hinampas niya sa akin ang basag na piraso ng nasirang salamin sa silid ko.”
Tahimik na umaagos lang aking luha ngunit ‘di niya nakikitang nakangiti na ako ngayon habang isinasalaysay sa kanya ang lahat. Parang nabawasan ang bigat sa aking puso.
Itinago ko ang aking mukha sa kanyang leeg. I inhaled his earthly masculine scent. Dang! Even his mere smell could make me calm and contented. How I wish that these arms will forever be my shelter and protection.

Marahang tumango ako sa tanong ni Star. I opened the window in our office then the cool, breezy view of the Lingyen shore welcomed us. I sipped on my coffee and that makes me smile widely. Indeed, caffeine is life.
“Not all man will listen and understand our lives,” turan nito at tumabi sakin. She grinned at me. “You are fortunate to have a man like Hielder Montevalle. I was glad that you choose him frenny. Now, I'm at ease that he'll never hurt you.”
“Yeah, I'm sure that he'll never do something to hurt me. But..” I trailed off, “to those people around us. I didn't trust them especially Ahmed Benjelloun. He seemed knew something about me,” sabi ko. Naalala ko pa ang mga salitang binitawan niya noon kay Nixus.
“Do you think she'll stay on your side if she knows the truth from the past? I pity you Montevalle for being so innocent. You know nothing yet you're dreaming too high,”
“Ask him to clear everything frenny. Baka malay natin at gumagawa lang siya ng kwento para inisin si Montevalle. Y'know he's a playful man,” saad nito.
Star has a point. I really need to talk to him.
“Tomorrow, I'll talk to him. Dang! If he's just messing around. Susuntukin ko talaga siya,” naiirita kong anas at marahas na bumuga ng hangin.
Narinig ko ang malakas na halakhak ni Star. Humigop siya sa kanyang kape at sumandal sa gilid ng bintana.
“I pity Benjelloun for liking you Wel,”
