Chapter 19

"Kindly add more sauce to this dish, Chef Jane. And a little amount of salt in this one. The vegetable soup was rather bland," I said while supervising our new hired chef.

"As a chef, you should always remember that people have different taste buds. What taste good for us may taste bland or awful for them," I added and go back on mixing the Japanese Salad.

We started as real busybodies and now that our cuisine became well-known in the whole land. A total of seven manpowers couldn't handle everything in here.

Now, we've added two more staff that made the readying stable and not weariful. Me and Star sometimes helped in cooking but we're more in supervising the preparation of food for its garnishing and presentation, as well as, the seasonings for a perfect taste. We are the one who ordered food or kitchen supplies and provides cost estimates to the employer. Moreover, we monitor any staff requirements and production schedules to be sure that any services are delivered on time.

The chefs life is not that easy. You need to become creative, passionate, and detail oriented. You have a grace under the fire and should able to accept criticisms positively. Must have a strong endurance and stamina. And also a chef should be a good leader. If you dreamed to be renown then you must have all these characteristics.

On my two years of living and working in this place. I've experienced a lot and that taught me to become more efficient in my craft. My passion for cooking was my form of recreation and an escape from bitter reality.

Two days had passed yet he never came back. I hoped and waited for him. Still, even a call or text, I didn't receive any of that from him.

"Here's your tea frenny. Stop sulking..tss," wika ni Star at tumabi sa akin. She gives me a cup of tea and crackers.

I stopped staring on my phone like crazy. The aroma of the tea instantly invades in my nose making me sneer.

"His messaged before he left was 'I'm sorry. I'll be back soon, moonlight.' Am I not allowed to sulk here frenny? He promised yet..." I trailed off and sipped on my tea.

Narinig ko ang pagbuga niya ng hangin. "You once told me to trust our man, right? Just do believe in his words. He'll call you. Maghintay ka lang Wel," seryosong turan nito na parang pinapanatag ang aking loob.

"Sana nga ay maaalala pa niya ako. Damn," anas ko at natawa sa sarili. I fixed my hair in a messy bun and took off my chef's uniform.

"Tss, of course he will! Girlfriend ka niya eh," naiinis nitong wika. "If things don't go right. And If I saw you cry over him. Baka hindi ko na mapigilan ang sarili ko kahit pinsan pa siya ni Atlas. No one could hurt my friend. Not on my watch, I'll punch him. Hard," gigil nitong dagdag.

She sipped on his cup with furrowed brows.

"He will never hurt me, Star. I assure you that my man is different. If he made me cry, it's because of happiness and..pleasure."

I badly missed him. Did he feel the same too? I wonder what he's doing right now. Are they sitting and laughing together? Did he and Ate Blaine reconcile? Is he okay? Baka nasasaktan siya ngayon.

"For the past months of your relationship with him. I noticed that you have a lot of uncertainties and questions in your mind. Yes, you are happy with him. Pero hindi mo maiiwasang mag-alala at mag-doubt sa mga nangyayari. Am I right?"
