A Quick Party

Big Red's POV

A part of me regretted agreeing to go to the party. I barely knew Felicity (though she was far from the reason I was going). I kept reminding myself my actual friends would be there.

Shortly before 7, I drove to Felicity's house, arriving a few minutes after 7. I walked in. There were many people there, and as she had told me, Ricky and Nini were there. Unfortunately for me, the two of them were too distracted by each other. Luckily, Felicity didn't notice me yet.

I talked to a few people, before retreating to a corner. I didn't realize how boring parties were. When I thought of parties, I thought of our parties at Ashlyn's house. Everyone doing something together and goofing off. This wasn't the same.

Of course, this all made me think of Ashlyn. Everything reminded me of her, really. I had no idea when she'd be in town again, but I was hopeful it would be soon.

"You made it!" Felicity sat down by me.

"Yeah." I nodded bluntly. I really didn't want to deal with any flirting.

"That's great." She smiled.

"I guess so."

"Something wrong?" At least she was being nice.

I hesitated, but went ahead and told her. "The only parties I've been to have been my girlfriend's. I can't stop thinking about her."

"This could be your girlfriend's party. If you let me be your girlfriend."

"Shut up." I quickly declined (not that it was much of a decision).

"Just saying."

"Why do you even care so much?" I asked her. "You know I have a girlfriend and keep telling you I'm not interested."

"I don't know. It's a crush, and I'm outgoing."

"Exactly. It's a crush. I'd appreciate if your crush didn't get in the way of actual love." I stood up, irritated. "I'm gonna go. Cool party." I don't know if she said bye or anything, because I rushed out of there, desperately hoping she would finally give up.
