Bad at Break Ups

Ashlyn's POV

I figured Big Red knew I regretted what I did before that moment, but his response was not what I expected. I don't think it's what he planned on doing either.

Because I doubt he planned on kissing his ex without another word. And I doubt he expected me to kiss him back. Needless to say, I did. And thank goodness I had.

After a moment, we broke apart, though I still had my arms around him. "Guess I'm bad at break ups." I whispered.

"Good." He smiled.

"I still don't know if this will work."

"We don't have to. But there's no way it will work if we aren't even a couple."

"Thanks for knocking some common sense into me." I smiled and quickly kissed him again, to which he beamed. I thought about mentioning something about the next day and us being long distance, but I pushed it out of my head. That's what had led to this.

"Now can you sit with us?" He asked. I laughed, grabbed my stuff, and we headed to lunch.

We sat where we usually did. Something about being broken up with Big Red, for less than a day even, made me all the more grateful for him, resulting in getting lost in his eyes way too many times as we ate.

"Dude, I thought you broke up?" Ricky must be bad at whispering, because this was not the first time I had heard him try to and fail.

"Yeah, not anymore." Big Red said to him, making me smile, and he turned back to me.

Wednesday came far too soon. I had to leave around 4, and as soon as school got out everyone came over to say goodbye. Everyone had heartfelt goodbyes, but I only remember some of them.

"Bye Ash." EJ hugged me, and I did the same in return.

"Goodbye. Call me before doing anything too dumb." I smiled.

"Will do." EJ smiled, said goodbye again, then there were a few more goodbyes from everyone, before Big Red. The one I dreaded the most. I saved the hardest for last.

I immediately threw my arms around him the moment he walked over to me, and finally broke out into sobs. "I don't want to leave." I whispered. He nodded without a word, probably trying to figure out what to say.

"I'll be right here the second you get to come back."

"I love you." I kissed him, who did the same in return.

"I love you too."

My parents interrupted. I had to leave.
