Ashlyn's POV

The first time I saw my baby sister I truly was filled with joy. She had come not many hours after my mom's water broke. Despite my desire to stay at the hospital, I ended up going to the wedding.

"Hey." I finally found Big Red during the after party and pecked him on the lips.

"Hey." He put his arm around me and we walked to an empty table to sit down. I slid my shoes off under the table, uncomfortable. Our chairs were pushed together. Because of all the commotion at the wedding, chairs had been pushed all over the place. I leaned on his shoulder.

"How are you?"

"Good. You? Your mom? Yet-to-be-named baby?" He asked. I smiled up at him.

"I think it's currently between Charolette and Olive, but things change constantly." I shrugged. "But yeah, we're all pretty good."

"Good." He kissed my forehead.

"Mhm." I closed my eyes briefly, exhausted. After my mom gave birth sleep was not easy, not to mention the fact she went into labor at night.

"Hey Ash?" He spoke a few minutes later.

"Yep?"

"You know one downside of attending a wedding with people you kinda know with your girlfriend who also kinda knows them?"

"What?" I laughed lightly.

"They're probably gonna do that whole 'wow, you've got a girlfriend' thing." He pointed out. I laughed.

"Well, you do have a girlfriend."

"The best girlfriend."

"And I've got the best boyfriend, so it's not exactly a hard question." I smiled.

"It's just one of those awkward questions, or comments, or whatever. I don't know. Maybe I'm just mostly remembering the 'do you have a girlfriend?' questions from people you barely know when you don't."

"Yeah, I know. It's weird." I agreed. "But you do have a girlfriend, and she loves to dance, and you dance, and—"

"Yeah, yeah, come on." He pretended to roll his eyes, which resulted in giggles from both of us. By the time we were in the dancing space, there was a slow song on. I smiled lightly and put my arms around his neck, resting them on his shoulders. He put his on my waist.

I loved having him back.

The song ended a few minutes later, instead a faster one coming on. We started dancing beside each other. It was awhile before I fell onto my boyfriend, who caught me.

"Ash?"

"Heel broke." I told him, taking my shoe off. I balanced on my left foot, having winced when I tried to put my right foot down.

"And ankle..."

"Hurts really bad." I nodded.

"First, let's move." He put his arm around me and started back to a table. We sat down. "Second, how much does it hurt?"

"A lot. I don't know, just a lot." I whispered, verging on tears.

"Lemme see?" He asked, gently bringing his fingers through my hair. I rested my right leg on the other, letting him see my ankle. "Um..."

"Is it bad?" I asked, burying my face in his shoulder.

"I mean it looks bad but I have no idea." He said, hugging me. I let out a shaky sigh.

"What better day for this." I muttered.

"Let's just go to the hospital. We'll be close if you need anything and your mom's there."

"If I don't need to leave it feels kinda rude, we're at someone's wedding."

"Ash."

"Yeah." I sighed. "Let's go."

"Good."
