Far From Normal

Ashlyn's POV

When I spoke to Big Red, I sounded so unsure of myself I almost felt like someone else. I guess it was just a part of me I really brought out. I can't help but think Big Red's more worried about me than he needs to be. It's really sweet...

I had met up with the others, which made me feel so good. Sunday came way too early. I wasn't going to leave until about 6, but my plans changed around 11. Finishing breakfast, my dad arrived back sooner than I expected.

"Dad?" I asked, confused. "What are you doing here?"

"Your mom and I were talking again." What is it this time? "Your grades, mindset, how busy I am, and the fact that in a few months you'll have a sibling..."

"And?"

"Well, it's your choice this time, because it happening a second time might be worse, but... we were thinking it might be nice for you to move back here."

"Like... go to East High, be with my friends, live in this house—" I cut myself off. "I can be here again?"

"Yeah. Think it over."

"I want to stay."

"Just think about it for awhile." He advised me.

"Okay." I nodded and went to my room, though I knew I wasn't going back to Nevada. After pretending to think about it for about 15 minutes (instead getting excited), I went back downstairs. "I want to stay." I told him again.

"Alright."

"Can I go tell my friends?"

"Yeah, of course." He said.

"Thanks!" I ran outside, before wondering where to go first. I decided on telling everyone:

Meet me for ice cream in 20

I started walking there, occasionally checking my phone. Everyone had agreed to come. Once everyone showed up, and we all we sitting down with ice cream, I told everyone.

"Guys... I'm, uh, moving back here."

An excited "really?" came from most of them.

"Yeah." I said, a huge smile on my face.

"Finally." EJ said.

"Yes! We missed you so much." Seb and Nini said.

The others said similar things. Big Red hadn't actually said anything, confusing me. Eventually, everyone else left. "Something wrong?"

"No!" He denied. "It's just hard to believe, you know?"

"Yeah. I agree." I kissed him.

"We're back to normal then..."

"Far from normal." I laughed, him joining in.

"Very far." He agreed.

"See you at school, then?" I hugged him. "Bye."

"Bye Ash."
