Madeline's Boyfriend

Ashlyn's POV

It was the first day back at East High after the weekend, which also meant the first day there with my hurt ankle, which sucked since it still hurt to put pressure on.

"Woah!" Big Red caught me as I stumbled; someone had bumped into me.

"Thanks..." I stood back up. "Good morning."

"Morning." He said, his eyes still following the boy who had knocked me over.

"I'm fine."

"That's my cousin's boyfriend. I'm 99% sure that wasn't an accident." He hugged me. I hugged him back.

"I'm still fine." I shrugged.

"Yeah. But, ugh, he's obnoxious. He's worse than Madeline."

"Who is it?"

"Jackson."

"Oh." I nodded. "Yeah, he and EJ were kinda friends from water polo for awhile, until he got so jerky."

"Anyways, class?"

"Yep." I nodded and started to walk to my class. He followed. "Go to your own class." I laughed lightly.

"I'd rather not have you fall over in the middle of the hallway. And our classes are super close."

"You're the sweetest." I kissed his cheek. "I am fine, though."

"I know." He smiled.

"Good." I held his hand, using him to help my balance. "How are you?"

"Good. Jaylee? Your parents?"

"Jaylee's good. My mom's pretty exhausted, and my dad's back in Nevada. Not sure we're on great terms right now though."

"Because of me?" He asked. I shook my head.

"No, because of his opinions on you. It's so stupid, honestly. You're not holding me back, I— ugh." I groaned.

"You'll work it out with him though." He assured me.

"Yeah, sometime." I nodded. "I thought maybe my relationship with them could get better, but it's not looking up right now. Well, for my dad. My mom's been pretty great recently. Of course, she's kinda watching Jaylee all the time, but somehow it feels like I'm spending more time with her." I shrugged.

"That's amazing." He smiled as we got to class. I hugged him quickly before going in.

"Bye."

"Bye."
