Big Red's POV

"Ash? Still there?" I asked.

"Um, baby, I should probably— I gotta go." She sounded panicked.

"Wait, what's happening?"

"Um, my mom's water broke, I— I'll call you back later. I've gotta drive to the hospital, I guess." She said, occasionally stuttering.

"Okay. I'll come over if you want?"

"I'll tell you where we end up. Traffic's pretty bad though. I gotta go, I'm driving now. Bye." She said, hanging up. I hoped she wouldn't panic too much.

"Oh, thank you." Ashlyn gave me a tight hug when I showed up at the hospital.

"Things are good now, love. You don't have to worry. You made it here." I hugged her back.

"I know." She nodded, leaning onto my shoulder. "My dad..."

"He'll get here."

"Not sure about that." She hugged me tighter.

"Let's get some air, hm?" I held her hand.

"I should stay with my mom—"

"You're currently sitting in the waiting room, and your mom isn't giving birth right now." I reminded her. "We don't have to, but—"

"No, you're right." She smiled slightly. "Outside sounds good. It's... gloomy in here."

"Yeah." We walked outside, starting to walk around the town, which probably wasn't the best idea since we had never been there. Luckily, it was pretty small.

"I love you."

"I love you more." I let go of her hand and put my arm around her, smiling.

"I guess." She shrugged.

"Ash?" I tilted my head with a pout.

"No, I mean... I love you more than, like, anyone could love anyone... ever. You're just more... supportive."

"That's not true baby." I kissed her forehead.

"There you go again, launching into a supportive speech."

"Which will make you upset?" I furrowed my eyebrows, confused.

"No, it just... I don't want you to always see the good in me if I make a mistake."

"Lyn, I know the difference between mistakes and being a bad person." I sighed. "People make mistakes. You make mistakes. I make mistakes. Those mistakes shouldn't divide us, though."

"You'll tell me if I bother you though?"

"Of course hon. Honesty, right?" I stopped walking and hugged her.

"Yeah." I could tell she was smiling.

"Besides, I know you'd be this supportive if I was going through this. I'm just... not."

"Fine, it worked."

"What?"

"The supportive speech." She pulled away and began walking again. I followed suit.

"Good."

"Mhm." She kissed me as we paused for another quick second before continuing the walk.

"Is anything about the baby bothering you?" I asked her.

"Honestly, yes."

"Wanna talk?"

"Honestly... no. I know I can't avoid it, and I know I'll absolutely love her, but the logistics of both my parents and everything— whatever. We just got back together. As much as I love your supportive speeches-" we chuckled. "-I also love being happy and free together."

"Yeah, me too." I beamed.

"You're adorable."

"Thank you." I rolled my eyes, laughing.

"You are!"

"Thank you." I said seriously, pulling her a little closer with the arm I had around her shoulder. "You are too."

"Thanks."
