Ashlyn's POV

I woke up, unsure of where I was. I looked around, realizing I was at Big Red's. He was asleep, hugging me. I kissed his forehead, making him wake up.

"What?" He mumbled.

"I gotta go. I was supposed to be home-" I checked my watch. "-like 20 minutes ago."

"Oh, yeah. Hey, I mean what I said." He reminded me.

"I... I know." I nodded, barely able to say it. I knew he was right, but I really wanted to be with him. I had been crying for the past while, but it was as good as I could currently get.

What I really wanted, realistically, was to go to therapy. Then, if i was upset, I'd go to my boyfriend's house, and Big Red would simply be there for me. I know he would. I would do the same for him. But now we can't do anything.

"You should get going." He wiped my face with his sleeve.

"Yeah. I—" I hugged him tightly. "Thank you. I love you."

"I love you too. You're welcome." He kissed me. I kissed him back, wanting to stay there forever.

"Bye. I'll see you at school or whatever, I don't know." I stood up. Despite the fact he had just wiped my face, I did it again for the new tears coming down my face I barely let him know were there.

"Bye." He waved gently. I gave him a sad smile as I left.

I biked my way home, though my tears were not helping me. I made it home as fast as I could, but there was still that part of me that figured if I didn't make it there fast, it would almost be equal to being home 20 minutes late. What's another 20? Regardless, I pushed that out of my head. I currently had too many things on the line to be in trouble. I put my bike away and walked inside. My mom was sitting on the couch when I walked in.

"Hi..." I started.

"Where were you?"

"I told you where I was going." I said, despite it being a lie. I didn't like to lie, but it felt like something I had to do right now.

"I called you."

"My phone was off." I said. It was true, but I had also been asleep.

"Why?"

"It was when I left, it wasn't on perfect." I told her honestly. "I'm really tired, could we please talk in the morning?"

"Fine. Goodnight."

"Night." I ran upstairs and to my room, not bothering to do anything but take off my shoes before lying in my bed. It took me awhile to fall asleep, but I did before it could start crying too much.
