Big Red's POV

The next day around 9, I walked up to Ashlyn's house and knocked on the door, sighing. She opened and smiled. "Hi!"

"Hey."

"What's up?"

"I think I'm ready to talk." I said nervously.

"Oh, alright, come on in." We walked to her room and sat down. "What's wrong?"

"My dad lost his job." I said. "My mom has never worked after I was born, so they're both unemployed. My dad is struggling to find another job. It's a really specific field, so it's hard, and it's just stressing everyone out."

"Oh, that's... tough..." She hugged me tightly. "I'm sorry, I'm not really sure what to say. I'm sure everything will work out fine though honey."

"I really hope so." I rested against her. "You're probably right, it's so stressful. The energy at home hasn't been calm lately."

"You can always come over." She kissed my forehead.

"Thank you." I closed my eyes and we sat there hugging for a few minutes. "I love you."

"I love you too. Is there anything I can do for you?"

"No, you're doing enough right now." I replied, hugging her tighter.

"Okay, but tell me if there ever is."

"I will."

"Good." She smiled.

"Ashlyn?"

"Mhm?"

"Can we sit like this for awhile? It's really nice."

"Yeah, we can." She nodded slightly. I kissed her cheek and smiled slightly. "I'm always here for you sweetie."

"Thank you. Me too." I rested my head in the nook between her neck and shoulder.

The next morning I woke and sat up with a yawn. I looked around and realized I was still at Ashlyn's. I was in the same spot as the night before, now with a blanket on top of me. She was lying on the ground, wrapped in blankets, asleep. I blushed.

I stood up, trying to me quiet, but Ashlyn stirred. She rolled over to face me. "G'morning." She mumbled.

"Good morning." I sat down next to her. "Thanks for letting me sleep."

"Oh, it's not a problem." She yawned.

"Wait, my parents—"

"They know." She cut me off as she sat up. "I've got it all figured out."

"Thanks." I hugged her.

"Of course. Ready for breakfast?"

"Sure."
