Chapter Fifteen

Sora's Pov

As the fire had become bigger after the elder had spit his venom into flames, that was when I realized the stone slabs behind us had images on them. And it just so happened that after the venom was in the air around the fire, the slabs seemed to come to life with the images on them. My eyes widened as I saw the images play out, helping the elder tell us the story. I was just in complete awe. I had never encountered the Serpentine until after I had joined the team, and even then I hadn't seen much of what they could do, until now at least. I remained silent like the others as we listened to the elder as the images put on a show for him, helping us get an image of what we were being told.

"When the First Spinjitzu Master created Ninjago, he created a being who would watch over the land and help those who lived there, if he were to no longer be around. She was known well for keeping the balance and acted as a doctor with her powers. She had the powers to heal, but she could also fight as she fended those in need. She would come to be known as the Silver Healer- otherwise known as the Silver Master. Not only that, but the First Spinjitzu Master created the Serpentine from deep in the ground around the same time." He paused for a moment as he made sure he had our attention.

"Since the first dawn, our elders knew of the Curse of the Golden Master, when he who had the powers equal to the First Spinjitzu Master would rise and usher in the last of the setting suns. With no equal adversary, his power will go unmatched. His destructive rule will change the face of the world, and he will not stop until every man, woman and Serpentine are enslaved under his control." I didn't wish to interrupt, but Zane beat me to it. "Is he referring to Lloyd?" He asked, earning a shrug from Kai. I frowned and looked at the elder as I asked. "What about the Silver Healer? Couldn't she fight him?" Everyone nodded in agreement as they also had wanted to learn more about this Silver Healer as we had never heard much about her until now.

The elder nodded as he looked around at us. "The Silver Healer had done everything she could to help save those in need, but there were too many for her. She was overwhelmed and he decided to take advantage of that, threatening her and everyone in Ninjago. If she didn't do as he wished, he would come back much sooner and the Golden Master's terrible reign would come even more into effect. So...instead she took the safe route and swore to protect everyone in secret, but it cost her, her life with all that she had to do to keep everyone safe, so in the end, she was leaving her child without a mother. But if the child or anyone with her blood were to be taken...he would be unstoppable. The blood the child has is a special case now, even if she's gone, she is with them, but so is he." Our eyes widened as we heard that. Even after being threatened she had done what she could to protect everyone just as the First Spinjitzu Master had created her to do. I frowned as I heard that, wondering what happened along the line of that or how Hikaru came to be since that was his ancestor and the child could've died since it had no mother. But what did he mean by "even if she's gone, she is with them, but so is he." What does that mean?

We remained silent as the elder soon went back to the story, he had gone a little off track to inform us of what the Silver Healer had done. "The Serpentine tried to warn the Land dwellers, but they wouldn't listen. They thought we were the enemy, though we were only trying to prevent the prophecy of The Golden Master's terrible reign. After the Great Devourer failed to scare the unbelievers below ground, it is we who retreated beneath the soil, promising never to return, even now that the end is inevitable." We all frowned as we looked among the others. I felt bad as the Serpentine were only trying to help us...but our ancestors didn't want to listen to them. And from what it sounded like...no one could have helped the Silver Healer either as she was basically left with no choice.
