Context/Warnings: she might be off character a little bit, and this is somewhat the first time I wrote a gender-neutral reader, so let me know if I did any mistakes cause I'll edit them out!

" Y/n, I want a baby"

You almost spit out the water you were drinking when Miyo told you that. It wasn't anything too crazy for her to say, but I mean, kinda was at the same time.

" Oh? Ummm-..." you stuttered " you want me to steal one?" She looks at you confused before shaking her head.

" No- I want to adopt one" " ohhhhh" it fell to an awkward silence, a one where no one was doing anything or saying anything- well sep for your guy's cat that was drinking some water.

" Haven't you not been getting the hints?- I've been hinting at it for months" Miyo muttered out, looking at you with a nervous look.

You replied with a nervous expression as well, " You have?.... When?" She sighs, " ya know... looking at baby items and even buying them?- wouldn't you have a bit suspicion of a baby on the way or something?"

You looked at her confused, recalling the room where she had put a baby crib, some baby toys, and even painted the room with pastel colors. That also explained why she was on her phone so much, looking at baby names and stuff like that. But you never guessed this.

" that explains a lottttt- but why didn't you tell me?" She smiled.

" I wanted it to be a surprise!" You sighed with a smile, of course she would say something like that.

" Ahhh I see... so when do I have to buy a baby?" You questioned, which caused her to pull out her phone. After a few moments of her clicking random buttons and you looking at her confused, she showed you her phone.

You slowly grabbed her phone out of her hands so you could hold it yourself, looking at the picture. It was a newborn baby boy, and his name was Aoki, and he was the cutest baby you have ever seen in your life. Of course, all baby's looked the same, but this one felt more special.

You looked up at Miyo with a smile, almost having tears fall from your eyes.

" let's adopt him"

...

" Hello! How may I help you?"

The worker asks with a smile, looking at you and Miyo. She looked so happy, as for you, you were feeling mixed emotions. That being: scared, nervous, and excited.

" hi! I'm here to adopt a baby?" They smiled, " Ahhh! You must be the people who are adopting Aoki right?" The both of you nodded, which had them smile.

" Well great! I just need you to do the last sheets of paperwork" they spoke as they handed Miyo some more paperwork. You raised a brow.

' wait- she's been here before!?'

" and you can hang out with Aoki, or whatever name you want to give him" they smiled, which gave you time to glance towards Miyo.

" You've been here before?" You asked, which caused her to nervously smile.

" Oh-... yeah... hehehe- just to hang out with Aoki" she mutters out as another staff member led her to a small office where she could sign the paperwork. As for you, the staff member that has been helping you from the start led you to a small room. They proceeded to open the door, gesturing you to go inside.

" Now you can just take a seat as I get Aoki, okay?" You nodded as you took one of the seats in the room as they left.

You couldn't think about lunch since they came back in a matter of minutes with your soon-to-be son.

" Here you go," they mumbled as they handed you the baby, which you gladly took. You watched as the staff member walks out of the room, leaving you with Aoki.

You shyly glanced down at him, which in response, he looked up at you. The both of you stared into each other's eyes, his was a look of confusion as for yours. You were just studying what he looked like.

He had ( you pick) eyes with ( you pick) colored hair, he was just so perfect, you couldn't help but smile. He looked exactly like he did in the pictures on the website.

You snapped out of your thoughts once you heard the door open, looking up from Aoki so you could see who was walking in. That being the previous coworker and Miyo with a baby carrier in her hands ( I hope you know what I'm talking about).

She quickly walk up to the two of you and look down at Aoki, looking down at him with a smile before looking up at you.

" He's ours now..." she spoke, which caused you to bite your lip, trying to prevent the tears of happiness to fall from your eyes.

" so can we kidnap him now?"

" don't say it like that!"

...

So there you sat, watching your son Aoki. Miyo was out working as you had a day off, so you were chilling with him in his nursery. And to be honest, you had no clue on what you were doing, nor what to do with him. I mean, he was just an infant- so he could crawl around and play with some toys you and Miyo got him.

A long story short... you don't know how to parent. Like you can take care of the child, but you don't know what to do with it. And Miyo could say the same for herself, but you guys try, and you guys succeed.

You instantly snapped out of your long train of thoughts when your son slapped your leg, which gained your attention. You looked down at him with a raised brow as he smiled, happy in himself that he crawled towards you.

You smiled, " can you say, Aoki?" You questioned, which caused him to raise a brow before smiling.

" U bah poo" you raised a brow.

" Did you just insult me?"

" U dah poo"

Before you could respond, you heard the door to your home slam shut, which caused you to raise a brow before you realized it was just Miyo.

" I'm home!!!"
