• Being around the same age you grew up with Kakashi • You weren't as close to him as Rin and Obito, but he still thought of you as a good friend • Your feelings for the Copy Ninja went on the back burner as time went on • As much as it pained you, Kakashi wasn't one for relationships • At least - that's what you thought • Tsunade, like the rest of the people in the village close to you, could see how the two of you acted around each other • She could see the subtle looks you gave him when he wasn't looking • And the way he looked at you reminded her of the way Dan would look at her • She was surprised to know you weren't actually together • With the way the two of you looked at each she was sure there was something going on • Tsunade decided to send you both on a mission together • She hoped spending enough time together would lead to one of you confessing your feelings for the other • Both Tsunade and Shizune were shocked to see you by yourself • They didn't get word if Kakashi was hurt so seeing you without him was a little surprising • "Where's Kakashi?" • "He had some errands to run so I told him I'd turn in the report" • "Anything interesting happen on the mission?" • Tsunade was usually more subtle then that, but her curiosity got the better of her • "No, everything went as planned, Lord Fifth" • Tsunade sent you on your way after that, planning the next mission for you two to go on • The next few months were spent going on missions with Kakashi • They were always rather short missions but you were happy to spend time with him • It was a few months in when Kakashi confessed his feelings • The two of you were sent on a longer mission this time, and while it was a success, the two of you were exhausted • Kakashi used up so much of his chakra you had to help him walk to the nearest inn you could find • You started your journey home once Kakashi was fully rested • Silence filled the space between you • You weren't exactly sure what to say to him - last night being the first time you've slept in the same room as him • Thankfully, Kakashi was the first to speak up • "Why do you think Tsunade keeps pairing us up for missions?" • "I don't know. Why? Do you not want to be with me?" • "Of course I want to be with you, [Y/N]." • With the way he spoke, you had a feeling he wasn't just talking about the missions • Kakashi laughed, the realization hitting him • "It all makes sense now. Lord Fifth was playing matchmaker" • "Wait you're saying-" • "That I like you? Yeah, I thought it was obvious." • You could see the faint outline of his smile through the mask when you told him you returned his feelings • When the two of you finally made it back home, you went straight to the Hokage's office • Kakashi handed in the report explaining how it was a success without much problems • "We have some things to do, but is there anything else you need, Lord Fifth?" • "No, you two are free to go" • You both bowed before leaving • Tsunade giving Shizune a wide smile when she noticed two of you leaving hand-in-hand
