Kakashi was quiet as he walked along beside you. Walks were a normal thing between the two of you, usually filled with laughter and conversations about practically anything. So, when he gave you short responses and tiny chuckled to your conversation topics, you knew something was up.Maybe he was just having a rough day and didn't have the heart to say no to you. You know he's done it before, even if you've told him multiple times he doesn't always have to be with you. Whatever the reason, you had to make sure he was okay.
"Kakashi, if you wanna turn back, we can. You know you don't have to accompany me every time I ask."
"Oh, no, it's okay. I'm happy to be with you. I just have some things on my mind, sorry if I seem distracted."
You placed a gentle hand on his arm, fingers toying with the material of his sleeve, "You know you can talk to me, Kakashi. I'm here for you, whatever you need."
Kakashi smiled, "I know, and I'm grateful. Actually, there is something I wanted to talk about. I'd just like to do it somewhere more private then this."
You only nodded, allowing Kakashi to lead you through the village. Eventually, he brought you out to a smaller field, one that wasn't used by many people. He sat on the grass, patting the spot beside him. You sat down, watching as the light from the setting sun illuminated his features.
"So, what's going on in the mind of yours?"
Kakashi wasn't one to beat around the bush, always getting straight to the point. So, seeing him clearly nervous about something had you worried.
"I wanted to tell you, but the way you're looking at me now has me nervous."
You smiled, placing your hand in his, "Sorry, we don't have to discuss it if you don't want too. Don't push yourself if you're not comfortable."
He shook his head, "No, I want too, that's why I brought you out here. I just - I've never really done this before. I care about you a lot, but I don't want be just friends. I-I want something more. If you don't, I'll understand, I just need you to know where I am."
He kept his eyes off of you, too scared of rejection to keep his focus on you. You placed a hand on his cheek, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
"You know you're over here nervous for nothing, right? I've been hinting at my feelings for you for awhile now."
He chuckled, "And here I thought I was reading too much into things. Well, now that we know we both stand, can I take you on date sometime?"
You nodded, fingers brushing the silver strands out of his face, "I'd love nothing else, Kakashi."
