"Neji, wake up!"
His chest heaved as he sucked in short bursts of air. Eyes moved rapidly around the room as he pushed his hair off of his sweaty forehead. He stiffened as he felt your touch on his shoulder, only relaxing when your hand moved in soothing circles.
"Sorry for waking you. You go back to sleep, I'll be fine."
You gently smiled, "No, it's okay. Do you want to talk about it? I could make you some tea if you'd like."
Neji pondered for a moment, body slightly trembling, "No tea. Can we cuddle, maybe?"
You nodded, lightly patting a spot on his pillow. He laid on his side, easily becoming the little spoon as you placed your arms around him. You pressed a kiss to his scarred shoulder. It wasn't long before your fingers came up to brush through his long locks.
"So, do you want to talk about it?"
Neji stayed silent, shifting so his body was closer to your own. His hand gently held your own, squeezing it affectionately.
"Had a dream I was on a mission and all of a sudden you were there. It was a horrible situation and," his voice trembled, "I couldn't save you."
Tears rolled down his cheeks as you held him. You quickly wiped his tears, feeling your own well up.
"Neji, it was just a dream. I'm right here baby, I've got you."
Neji shifted out of your arms, rolling over to face you, "Just the thought of losing you, it's truly horrible."
"I'm not going anywhere, I promise."
You wiped the last stray tear, finally getting him to smile once you peppered kisses along his face.
"That's a pretty big promise to keep."
You pressed a kiss to his forehead just above his curse mark, "No matter what happens in the future, you have my heart, Neji Hyuga. Always."
