Kakashi was all excited to have you come over. It's been a few days since he's actually gotten to sit and talk with you and he wanted to catch up. Hearing the door to his apartment open, he got up from his spot on the couch to greet you. He shut the door behind you, pulling his mask down to kiss you, only to be surprised when you turned your head.

"We need to talk, Kakashi."

"Uh, okay. What about?"

"You have to understand this isn't easy for me to say, and it wasn't an easy decision to come too."

Kakashi frowned, head titling slightly in confusion. He had a feeling of what you were going to say but didn't want to believe it.

"Are you-" he gulped, swallowing the lump in his throat, "are you breaking up with me?"

You nodded, "I'm sorry, Kakashi, but yes."

With his mask off, you could see the frown forming on his face. His features fell, and you knew he was holding back from crying in front of you. His voice shook as he spoke, hands clenched at his sides.

"Why? After all this time, why now? Is it something we can fix?"

Your reasons shattered his heart. And seeing him in such a state broke yours. Kakashi reached out for you, hand cupping your cheek as he wiped the stray tears from your skin.

"I love you, [Y/N]. Isn't that enough?"

"I wish it was."

He pulled away from you at that, hand still lingering on your own.

"Please, I don't want to lose you."

You reached for the doorknob, opening the door as you didn't have the heart to look at him as you spoke. You knew your next words would hurt him and you didn't think you could take the look that would end up on his face.

"I'm sorry, but you already have."

Kakashi just stood there, watching your form get smaller and smaller the further you walk away. Tears fell when he could no longer see you, knowing that you took his heart with you when you walked out his life.
