Kakashi had a hard time sleeping due to his own nightmares. Usually he ended up staying up to read, as much as you begged him to get some rest. Most night he did when you were beside him, but tonight he wanted to catch up on his book.
He felt you move around a little, not paying much attention as he thought you were just shifting in your sleep. He heard small cries coming from you before you sat straight up. Your body trembling as your hands wiped viciously at your eyes.
Your whole body jolted at his touch, still getting yourself together as he held you against him. Lips brushed against your hairline as he whispered, his voice instantly calming you down.
"You're alright, my love. Do you want to talk about it?"
You shook your head, pressing your head against his chest. The soft thump, thump, thump, of his heartbeat against your ear. Images of your dream coming back in mind, making you tear up. You held him tighter, voice wavering as you spoke.
"Please don't leave me, 'Kashi."
His features softened, hating that you were so upset. He wiped a stray tear before pressing a short but sweet kiss to your lips.
