In the evening, Harry was ready to go to sleep and sat in his bed, looking at the Marauders map because he wanted to know where Draco was.
Everyone was already asleep, except Harry and Ron.
Draco was already in bed, Harry saw on the map.
He closed the map and looked at Ron sitting on his bed a bit gloomily, staring ahead. He sighed.
"You smelled Hermione, didn't you?"
Ron nodded slowly.
There was a moment of silence.
Harry was not sure whether to tell Ron that Hermione had smelled him too. He knew those two needed a nudge in the right direction, but Hermione wouldn't like it if Harry told Ron. He decided to give Ron a hint. He wouldn't notice right away because he's bloody oblivious anyway, but he'd have some hope again. "She didn't smell a muggle, you know."
Ron looked hopefully at Harry. "Really?"
Harry nodded. "Yeah, she smelled a wizard."
Ron cheered up a bit. "Do I know him?"
"You definitely do, you know him really good."
"Is it you?"
Ron asked confused.
"Of course not!"
"Who is it then?"
"I'm not allowed to tell, sorry, she doesn't want me to. Think for a moment! Then you probably know."
"Neville?"
"No silly," Harry chuckled. "Think carefully, you know him very well and I know him very well too. But you know him the best anyway."
Ron looked at him confused.
"Think about it, I'm going to sleep. Good night."
"Alright, good night mate."
Harry walked through the corridors on his way to the Gryffindor Common Room to play chess with Ron before going to sleep. He entered the hallway and saw something that made his happiness disappear immediately. Draco and Pansy where kissing. He felt his heart break. Fighting back tears, he walked past them into the next corridor.
Draco, shocked by what happened, pushed Pansy away, ran after Harry and called out his name.
Harry ignored Draco and ran to the Gryffindor Common Room with tears stinging in his eyes.
"Hey mate, ready for... Harry?"
Harry ignored Ron, hurried to their dorm and slammed the door behind him. Fortunately no one else was in the room.
He threw himself on his bed and hid under the covers.
Ron entered the room. "Hey mate, are you alright?"
Harry didn't answer. He didn't know if he couldn't hold back any longer if he did.
"Harry?" Ron said worried.
Harry didn't answer.
"I assume you want to be alone for a while. I'm in the Common Room if you need me." Ron left the room and sat down with Hermione again.
"Is everything okay with him?" She asked concerned.
"He doesn't say anything. He's just laying under his covers in his bed." Ron said almost equally worried.
Harry lay in his bed, fighting back tears, staring at his covers. He didn't think, he didn't feel, he didn't move, all there was, was an unbearable pain in his heart.
